“A quiet place in bustling Sanur”
Reviewed 24 May 2012

We stayed at the Parigata Hotel and Spa about 5 years ago, and when we were greeted at the Parigata Villas, the woman at the front desk remembered us! Everyone at the property were really friendly and helpful, and made our stay memorable.
We loved having our own private pool, and used it as much as possible.
The room was comfortable, but I would say one of the downsides in that the bathroom does not have a dedicated shower. There is a huge bath tub with a not-so-long hose. Being as though we are both tall, the hose was not long enough for us to use while standing up.
The other problem we had were the mosquitos in our room. There is a mosquito net that drapes the bed, but unfortunately the mosquitos were under the bed and head board and were able to get inside the mosquito net, resulting in multiple mosquito bites during the night.
Would I go back? Yes, definitely (and I'd have the room sprayed for mosquitos each day). This is a quiet place in busy Sanur, with a great location for a good price. Having a private pool was the best!

Confused as to if I am reviewing the right property, based on other reviews, as I enjoyed my stay.
The private pool in your villa is exceptional. Fairly deep and with jets combined with the surroundings makes it a true oasis.
Friendly and accommodating staff, the resort is well kept, the breakfast is good and the fresh welcome fruit and cookies is a delicious touch.
Although it’s walking distance to the less mediocre beach in Sanur – its better to just hang at your villa. Did I mention the private pool?
The room was spacious, clean and with a very large comfy bed. The bathroom had a beautiful large tub, but the shower outside was so amazing, it never got used. Hopefully you are not too shy with your partner, as the toilet can be seen from the bedroom and the private patio.
Biggest let down was no wifi in the room. Otherwise a good stay.

Hotel was just OK. Everything was adequate, but nothing special. They could do so much more to engage guests. The lounge was dead every night. Didn't see any entertainment of any sort, not sure if that was because it was January, and early in the week? Staff not very engaged. Huge spider in my room, which I have never seen in any of my travels, even though I have stayed at many 3-4 star hotels in tropical countries. Breakfast buffet pretty uninspired. It was like no one was trying. We saw dishes from room service outside of other rooms, that sat there for at least 24hrs. Would not stay again, but probably because I wouldn't stay anywhere on that strip, as it was way too busy with traffic, noise and pollution.

this villas we checked in 2011 and we found them more or less in a proper condition.
But when we checked in in january 2012, we were more than chocked.
All over moist and mushroms on the walls. Not proper cleaned bathroom.
Mouses and rats walking on the or in between the roof.
Outside fridge was more than dirty and needs to be rechanged.
Everything is in a bad condition, hairblower, toilette flash, lights, garbish in the garden.
Management is to lazy to controll.
Outside common pool aerea is nice and quiet and allows to chill.
The staff is very friendly and kind. They all try to do their best.
But the hotel group Parigata invests nothing and handling all with a minimun of fees.
I feel sorry for such a nice place going to be ruined soon completely.

Room Tip: look before you check in and make sure you find everything in good order

This was our 2nd stay at the Parigata Villas. We had loved our first time at this property when we stayed for 10 nights in August 2010 but we were shocked and disappointed by how run down the villas had become in just over 12 months when we returned in mid Oct 2011 with little or no maintenance carried out. Although the gardens are still gorgeous the villas are very tired and in need of maintenance and a freshen up. In both villas we stayed in the paint was peeling off the walls, the furniture was old-fashioned teak, the rooms were dusty. In addition it was frustrating to have to ask for our tea, sugar, coffee, shower caps, soaps to be replenished every day. I have listed below the problems we encountered and I know for sure that for $150 USD per night that there are other properties in Sanur that offer higher standards and quality rooms/villas with a full buffet breakfast - not the cold piece of fatty bacon and untoasted bread that was served up under the heading of “American” breakfast! We alerted the management to the problems we were encountering (listed below) early in our stay and we gave them the opportunity to compensate us financially for the lack of sleep we were getting. We asked for 2 or 3 nights compensation but the most they would do was offer a spa treatment and return transfer to the airport when we were leaving – this was not what we considered fair compensation for what we had encountered.
Enau villa
The toilet would not stop running after it had been flushed – we had requested for it to be fixed on the 2nd morning of our stay but when we came back to our room in the afternoon it had not been fixed. They sent a man over to fix it and by 9.30pm it was still unfixed and we were left without a working toilet overnight.
Air conditioning noisy due to excessive build up of dirt and dust in filters that had obviously not been cleaned for years– couldn’t sleep. Paint peeling off the walls, dusty cupboards, drawers, floor was generally dirty, plunge pool in villa was very cloudy on our arrival and we had to ask to get it cleaned.

Kana villa
Paint peeling off walls same as Enau and dusty furniture
Rats in the ceiling
Broken toilet seat falling off the toilet, Leak in the roof – bed got wet when it rained, Power points a bit loose and dangerous

Some other issues to note:
The breakfast is pathetic!! Cold, fatty bacon, bread that was not toasted, rude waitress one morning due to being stressed because they were understaffed. Due to the poor quality food and service at breakfast, we ended up not eating breakast at the property but opted to go down to a little cafe down by the waters edge to buy our breakfast for the last few days of our holiday. Again making the Parigata Villas less value for money.

Communal pool was unuseable because it was so badly in need of algae removal from feature rocks in pool that when they finally did clean it it took the entire week for the pool water to become clear again. It was unusable for the majority of our 10 day stay.

This property has good bones, is in a fantastic location, beautiful gardens but for a $150 USD per night I would definitely NOT recommend this property until some major repairs have been carried out.

Room Tip: Check the room when you get there to make sure that the private plunge pool is clean, that the airco...
