This was our first visit to Indonesia and Bali . The quality and spacious of the public areas of the hotel was immediately apparent with nothing left laying about, like tour companies promo material etc. The grounds are swept daily and cushions plumpt up at all times in the seating areas. The pools are extremely clean and the gardens a tropical paradise to the extent that the hotel is used a lot for staging commercial photo shoots and broadcast material.
Our room (225) was spacious and the wide use of stonework and statues in niches in the construction shouts of quality.
The contributor who complained about the stuck sink plug may not have visited too many Muslim countries before. Muslims wash only in running water, although Bali has a Hindu majority unlike the rest of Indonesia from whence other visitors may come.
Breakfast are amazing, with endless choices and selections.
Compared with European prices, value is at the high end.

Room Tip: Upper floors are more private of course, but verandas of ground floor units are generally quite large.

This is a very large hotel. The breakfasts are diverse and pretty good. Bang on the beach in Sanur. They have three pools, with the one at the rear nice and quiet - only occasionally being visited by little tackers. We were given an upgrade which was nice of them. Unfortunately it looks like they don’t have a programmed maintenance schedule and rely on guests to tell them what needs to be done. In our room, the shower head had fallen off the wall, the plug in the basin would not go up and down and the toilet wouldn’t stop running. Add to that chipped tiles and heavy staining in the bathroom it didn’t auger well. In fairness, the maintenance people came out really quickly and fixed all the faults. For the price we paid we would have expected better. However, as in wherever we stay in Sanur - it was still an enjoyable weeks stay before we moved on to Legian.

First time staying in sanur, great location with so many restaurants and bars but not so busy. Easy boat trip to Nusa Lembongan near by and the night markets are great for local cuisine. Griya santrian has every to offer for a relaxing stay, staff are very friendly and helpful, amenities are good and clean.

Room Tip: Probably should have asked for non smoking

As a frequent traveller - both for business or holidays - able to compare many hotels in the world. The Griya Santrian in Sanur/Bali - now visited for holidays - is by far one of the best hotels we visited during the last years. Large rooms with full bathroom facilities (large walk-in shower) with large balcony or terras opposite a swimming pool (incl. towel services and enough high quality resting areas, also available at the beach site). Tiptop room cleaning every day. Very friendly and helpful staff members all over the place who give you really the feeling that you are a welcome and respected guest. And of course the friendly and hospital Bali atmosphere, even in the excellent hotel restaurant (good price/quality, try the "nasi campur") and the Beach Corner restaurant. Tip: try the Balinese massage (80 minutes) at the Hotel Spa. Excellent, professional and high hygiene standard in comparison with all the other Spa facilities you see in the streets of Sanur, Den Pasar or Kuta. It is really a hotel recommend to settle down. However, it seems to us that it is not a place to go to with little children (between 1-6/7 years old) as playground facilities for this group are lacking. We certainly will come back to the Gryia Santrian.

Room Tip: Luxury rooms with garden/swimming pool view/near the beach recommended, difficulty climbing stairs? book a ground floor luxury room.

After staying, I can understand why Griya Santrian gets some mixed reviews. The location and facilities are excellent. Loved using the bicycles to ride to places further than we wanted to walk and the beach area was lovely. Couldn’t fault the staff who were pleasant and helpful. The downside however was our room... i believe it was called a ‘garden view room’ which we apparently got on special for about $175/night not including breakfast. The room was very basic and had a very musty smell generally, as well as a bit of a stench in the shower which seemed to be from a lack of adequate ventilation combined with the drain. It was fine overall and the huge bed was great, but we did leave regretting not paying more for one of the newer/nicer rooms.
