Nice place very close to the beach. Ideal for small kids as no waves, less dangerous. Water is not deep at all. The hotel is nice but need to be refresh as we can see it is an old place. The service is really great and the waiters/waitress very supportive.I enjoy my stay alone with my young 3 years boy

The Mecure is a four start hotel and you can get very decent rates through their website, which we did.

Our room was family room split over two floors in an self contained unit. We have two teenage daughters, and so an extra floor bed was provided downstairs. The best bit was the room directly overlooked the beach and we could walk out from the lounge through a small private garden onto the beach. Of course not all rooms will have this advantage.

The rooms are traditional, but some may consider them a little dated. We had no issues however and the rooms were cleaned to a high standard every day.

The breakfast was excellent. Great choice of western, Asian and Balinese food each day. Good coffee machines, pus filter coffee. Reasonable fresh fruit selection.

Sanur is brilliant for families and couples looking to escape the madness of Kuta. The hotel is at the south end of a log strip or road that constitutes the main road through Sanur and would take over 45 mins to walk to top end. You can also also walk a long way on a beach road that runs parallel and has various resorts and local businesses offering food and refreshments, although the food prices tend to be higher here. Lots of massage places, laundry etc on doorstep.

Beach and sea is good, but of course it is not the Maldives!

Pool fine for those wanting to do laps.

There is only the pool bar for socialising and this is quite small and often very quiet, so don't expect the hard rock cafe!

We and other guests were invited to a 2 hour hotel function with cocktails, wine and snacks gratis; plus very nice entertainment and dancing. Apparently there is similar event once per month.

The hotel staff are super-friendly and we found them really helpful with great service. On the one occasion we had a reason to complain about a certain matter, the hotel dealt with it promptly. The food and beverage manger, a lovely lady called Harumi, was duty manger for the day and she dealt with the matter in a personal and very professional manner and fully to our satisfaction.

The hotel is not perfect, but you cant give it 4.5 stars. Although we cant compare with other similar hotels in Sanur, we have stayed at many hotels across the globe and we loved the location and the feeling and would definitely return

We were booked to stay here two nights, but after a night here, we checked out and moved hotels to something that was more kid friendly.
The buffet breakfast was great, staff friendly and helpful and beachfront lunch was tasty but...
This is a very old hotel in need of an upgrade. Our room was bland and rundown with no personality.
The large pool that had the kids pool attached to it had little to no shade so not ideal for little ones. And sun loungers around that pool had no umbrellas.
There were a lot of Europeans staying here and they appeared less than impressed that a 4yo should be laughing and having fun at the pool with us.
It was enough for us to forgo our second night we had prepaid and move hotels

Dear Kristi_Turner,

Thank you for sharing your experience during your stay at Mercure Resort Sanur.

It is such a pleasure to know that you were enjoyed our breakfast, and the service rendered by our staff was impressed you and create memorable experience.

I regret to know that your experience did not meet your expectation. We pleased to inform that we are on progress to upgrading our pool service and facilities, we have been partially replacing some of umbrella cover with better quality product which won’t fade for at least 5 years while long chair cushion covers have arrived partially. We take note on your concern of room condition, and please rest assure that we take an appropriate action to rectify the defect. While the renovation plan is on process, we have been conducting room enhancement to ensure our guest enjoy their stay with us. Over the last few months we have focused on new bedroom tiles, bathroom tiles, wall painting and floor grouting. Apart from the room structure, we have been replacing our towels in the room, pillow, and continuing upgrading our hotel facilities. We will work diligently to do the best we can prior to any refurbishment approved by the Resort’s Owners.

Once again, your feedback is truly appreciated as it greatly supports us to serve better. We truly hope you will give us another opportunity to serve you better in the near future.

Sincerely,

I can't tell you how disappointed we were with this hotel. Let's start with its good points: the grounds are beautiful and well maintained, and it is very clean. The buffet breakfast was really nice, with a wide selection of food. the staff were really nice and friendly, especially Sweetie in the kids club. but...

The hotel is run down. it needs far more than a lick of paint. our room was clean but depressing. the blinds were broke and wouldn't let the sun in, the grouting was stained, the woodwork was peeling and the front door didn't fit properly, so we would have infestations of insects. The bedding was old and had old stains/holes in them. we needed a third bed for our 8-year-old daughter and after our arrival, they made up the daybed for her. it wasn't very comfortable because the mattress was bigger than the base and the poor girl would fall out of bed at night - she ended up putting the mattress on the floor every night. While the pools look nice and I saw water samples being taken daily, it wasn't very clean. the water was cloudy, there were algae growing on the steps, tiles were broken and badly replaced. There were enough sun loungers around the pool, but many were broken, the cushions were grubby and there were a lot of ants. The Kids club had a full activity program, but nothing ever really happened. lots of the scheduled activities didn't happen because they didn't have the resources. that being said, Sweetie worked very hard to entertain the children the best she could. I often heard 'I'm sorry, we have run out of that' which was disappointing. we chose this hotel because it was sold to us as the best family-friendly resort in Sanur. I really don't think that is the case, it more like a not-hostile to children hotel.

I cannot recommend this hotel to others. it's cheap and naff, but if the price is your main motivator and you don't mind the overall experience, then this may work for you!
