Alas, only 2 nights in this small boutique resort. We are very sorry to be leaving so soon and wholeheartedly hope to return.
The entire experience has been faultless from initial communication to check out.

The aesthetic of the room was perfect, exactly what I love. We had a very spacious suite room (S1), right on the top storey 2 floors above the restaurant. Previous review has mentioned noise but we weren’t aware of it. The room was well supplied with amenities and super clean. Great bathroom. Super comfortable bed. Huge balcony with day bed. Also love the art around the place!

The resort is nicely laid out, excellent pools, lots of day beds and stellar view of the rice fields. The gardens and ponds are really beautiful.

The restaurant on site was fantastic. Given the nature of our stay we only ate here and, once again, wish we were here longer. Menu is superb, food quality superb and very extensive.

We didn’t utilise the gym or yoga, etc. Lots on offer for wellness- hopefully next time! Walked down to the beach and along the coast both mornings. There is a walking path which you can clock up some kms on- it has been recently damaged from the high tides but is still walkable, via the beach and higher ground.

The spa have a 2 for 1 deal right now which is very good value, I had a Balinese massage and facial- highly recommended. High end set up. Would be fantastic to come back for maybe 5 days with a small group of girlfriends for a health retreat.

Lastly, the staff- all, without exception, were fantastic.

Thanks Samata. We genuinely hope to see you again.

Stayed here for 1 night early June as a stopover between Nusa Lembongan and airport.
All correspondence with The Samata prior to our stay was first class.
We did organise a pick up from the ferry but they were waiting at a different area to where the ferry came in at Sanur.
Ricky's Fast Cruise telephoned them and they did pick us up around 30 minutes later. I was a bit disappointed as I would have thought they would know where the fast boat docked but maybe they do it at different places depending on the tide.
Our arrive at The Samata was good and we were welcomed warmly by all staff.
I booked a 1 bedroom pool villa and upon arrival was grateful that they upgraded us to an enormous villa overlooking the rice paddys and ocean.
The room itself was nice. Bathroom and external shower was a bit shabby.

Unfortunately the villa was not private, very overlooked and really windy, in fact it was the only day of 15 in Bali that we didn't swim. The pool area, whilst very nice, was more of a pond. It was a bit wierd layout.

Upon retiring to bed, we could not work out where the really loud noise was coming from, it was in fact the main road about 500 metres away. it was so noisy neither of us slept the entire night.
Breakfast next morning has extensive list to choose from however by the time it got to us (albeit we were right next to the restaurant) it was all cold, including coffee.

The Samata, whilst it looks high end, it completely misses the mark.

I hate to say but the only place I've stayed in Bali that I would not recommend. Maybe if we had of had the original room selected, my review may have been slightly higher.

Dear shamac777,

Thank you very much for the feedback on your recent stay at our hotel. Your comments are extremely valuable to us, as we strive to improve with each and every stay, but unfortunately, sometimes we might have challenges to meet some expectations especially when external factors we can not control influence our guests’ stays. Whilst an apology with regrettably not alter the outcome of your experience on this occasion, I do extended it with all sincerity.

I greatly appreciate your positive comments about aspects pertaining to the villa, the service and the food. The Samata is a very calm little piece of heaven and the traffic from the road can rarely be heard except on exceptional occasions. I am sorry you were disturbed on that occasion and should you have informed us, we would have been happy to show you other available villas in case you found them more suitable. If we have the chance to welcome you in the future, please let us know and we will make our possible to allocate you the most comfortable villa according to your wishes.

In regards to the wind, The Samata is directly facing the ocean only separated by the beach by some extensive flat rice fields. From May to July Bali enters the dry season when the weather is generally very nice with a pleasant breeze. On some occasions, the breeze can turn out to be stronger during a couple of days. I am sorry you were discomforted by this but I trust you enjoyed the pleasant temperature (this is the coolest time of the year with some 22-26 degrees Celsius all day long). If you prefer warmer days, I strongly recommend you to visit the island between January and March which are the hottest months of the year but also rain might kick-in more often as it will fall during the rainy season.

As for the pick-up at the port, Indeed the boats do not arrive at the exact same spots as it depends on the traffic in Sanur “harbour”. Thanks to your valuable comments, we will come up with a solution so future guests don’t face the same situation.

Once again, thank you very much for your feedback which is truly helpful for us in order to keep improving our service delivery to meet all our guests expectations. We hope to have the chance to welcoming you again at The Samata or in any other resort from Lifestyle Retreats. In the meanwhile, I wish you lovely days ahead.

We booked The Samata last minute due to a failed trip to Nusa Lembongan (because of high tide) never mind not being able to go because we had the most wonderful time here.

The grounds at the Samata are so well kept and picturesque with the beautiful rice paddies as a back drop.

We had the ocean view suite so a large balcony and amazing view including a large day bed. The room was spacious, the bathroom had a double vanity, bath and waterfall shower head. There was a turn down service at night which is a lovely touch.

3 course healthy meals for breakfast were fantastic, lunch brought to our suite and dinner was very good also. The gym had everything & we did yoga with Bagus on our last morning which was a great ending to a perfect 2 nights stay.

Thank you for having us.

This little paradise is a hidden gem just far enough away from the Sanur hustle, with a beautiful view over rice fields towards the sea. It has everything you are looking for in Bali: very scenic, clean, well kept premises, delicious beds, inside and outside shower/bath, very kind and helpful staff, good food, fully equipped gym and even a tennis court.

Room: we stayed in 2 bedroom villa nr 1 with a view across the 2 pools towards the rice fields and sea. Ask for villa nr 2 or 6; they are further away from a bit of street noise in the morning and have more privacy as well.
