We stayed at Club Med Bali for 8D7N and had a great holiday. The Deluxe room we had was nice and spacious, close enough to the beach and zen pool but not too far from the main bar and reception. We took part in many activities such as golf, fitness classes, water aerobics, power walk, paddle boarding, shows and dancing etc and it had been great fun. My daughter met other teens there as part of the teens club and really enjoyed herself. We didn’t see her most day as she was out with the GOs and other teens doing all kinds of sports like soccer, tennis, snorkelling, archery, golf, paddle boarding etc. 
Our holiday was made special by all the amazing and hardworking GOs and staff, they make Club Med holiday a fantastic experience for us every time. For this trip, we would like to give a big shout out to Benz who looked after us on all things F&B, Atom and Sophie at the pool bar, Oka and Ujang the golf pros who taught and played golf with my husband everyday, Andes and Rian the land and water sports gurus, Joy and Jonty, Amantus and Will the fitness and sports instructors, Billy and Kyle who chatted with us at dinner one night, Rama, Fin and Astrid who made sure my daughter enjoyed all kind of activities and had a great time.


Thanks again Club Med Bali and we look forward to visiting another Club Med resort next time!

Don't get me wrong, the place is great if they could just get simple things right. Once that is gone, everything else felt so superficial and shallow.

1) 6 families were there on 7-11 Dec. We arrived at the hotel around 2.30pm and were promptly greeted by smiling GOs. All good so far. That's when things start to go wrong.
The families were not housed close to each other. 5 families were spread out across 2 blocks and 1 family to a far away block, which was my family. This was despite we specifically requested that everyone be close to each other. Obviously, club med did not get the memo.
2) Next, we came with 2 suitcases, only to have 1 missing. It was tagged to another room for another guest (not one of our families). Took them a while to locate it. Thankfully, all our belongings were intact.
3) Room service/housekeeping support is really unresponsive. We had to call more than a few times for additional toiletries/bathroom items to be provided.
4) Toiletries are barely usable; the shower/shampoo pumps are not working well so we remove them. The thermal flask has a faulty socket that looked like it has been burnt out before. The bedside lamp has a faulty lightbulb. I'm being picky here but you would expect everything to work.
5) The resort is dimly lit at night and you will lose your way even walking along the footpaths. There are no clear signages to tell you which way to go or where are you. My partner actually got lost for a good 10 minutes trying to find her way back to the room! There are plenty of open area for those who like a shortcut but beware!, these areas are not lit at all and there are depressions for those unaware. Nearly tripped on a couple of ocassions.
6) Our key tags are not updated. We got locked out in the middle of the morning. And the only way to get them rectified is to walk to the front desk, which is easily a few hundred metres to & fro, and on an extremely hot day. Not great at all.
7) The best is yet to come. All the families had organised a late check out at 12pm. Guess what, housekeeping is chasing us out before the check out time is up. We were taking a quick shower and the housekeeping banged on our room doors (yes, no bells) to evict us. We told him we had a late check out and he didnt understand a thing. A case of the front desk and housekeeping not talking to each other. And we were the only family that was being chased out. The housekeeper attitude was downright rude as well.

These are the little things that could have been avoided but sadly, it is also these things that demonstrated how a well run resort team should be. Club Med failed miserably at these.

TIPS:
Snokelling trips need to queue an hour(or more) in advance in the morning to get your slots.
They have late breaffast till 1130, late lunch till 4pm. Dinner is till 930pm.
Bring mosquitoes repellent. We came home to bites and scratches.
Bring lots of sunscreen.
No nearby shopping if you are a shopaholic.
Massages are cheaper outside, just a 5 min drive.
Taxi service are very affordable
Big compoung, bring comfortable footwear

We stayed at the ClubMed Bali for 5D/4N from 8 to 12 Dec.

The pool, facilities, gardens are all very well maintained. There's always plenty of good food, drinks, activities and entertainment for everyone.

A big shoutout to 1) Benz, Atom and Sophie (F&B), 2) Joy and Lina (fitness) and Bruno (reception) for being so passionate about their jobs and going the extra mile to make our stay very pleasant and enjoyable.

The whole experience was awesome. From the GM to staff, from food to drinks, from at site to external excursion, everything was good. Only comment is i hope the room clean up could be earlier each day :). Also at times, mosquitoes observed inside the room, but besides that, really nothing much to complaint about :)
A few people whom i would really like to mention that had really helped me and my family enjoyed the experience during our stay with the service rendered to help us be it in food choices, excursion selections and even games for the kids and more.

From the deck restaurant:
1) Benz (manager)- been super helpful and friendly
2) Anita
3) Baruada
Everyone here played a part to make my family's stay and enjoyable one.

From the bar:
1) Arifin
2) Pandu
3) Sophie
Everyone here made me enjoy my experiences be it in the bar or the restaurant

From Archery:
1) Arda
Mr Arda has been able to make my children enjoy their archery sessions and this made them so happy that they want to go back for the activity everyday :)

Overall the GO team/staff are friendly. However, Clubmed activities/programmes management is unfriendly and inefficient. Weekend we stayed, was told high peak occupancy, special activities/dining can only cater to 3-5% of the guests. Worst is it's wasting time as you'll have to join the long queue to find out if you can get a slot. Some of these activities already fully booked even before us checking in (they dont run everyday). During overwhelming dinner, food served not fully cooked and the presentation were messed up. Conclusion is, for a relax holidays in Clubmed, please avoid high peak season or opt for longer stay.
