Awsome for the night life

Review of Dewi Sri Hotel
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Oct 2012
we stayed there for 4 nights for a Hens weekend away so it was a awsome location as waliking distance for the clubs and pubs, we got a average room at first there was 6 of us and they squashed 3 of us in 2 small rooms putting a bed on the floor so the 1st night was awful but then they upgraded us to a family room which was awsome it was sooooooo spacious. I wouldnt recommend this hotel if you want peace and qutie as you get the screaming loud people from the sky bar echo down, but otherwise very clean neat and friendly.

My husband and I used this hotel as a transit place before and after Lombok so it was alright. Breakfast was just alright. Our room and bathroom was basic but clean & tidy. The location is right in the middle of the hustle & bustle of Kuta (only couple meters away from the old bombed area). It depend of what you are after, if you go to Bali for partying and shopping this hotel is the perfect hotel but if you want a romantic quiet getaway this is not a place to go. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Room tip: Try not to stay close to the pool & restaurant as it opens until 12pm and there is always people drinking there until late at night.

My family and I stayed a week at this little piece of paradise. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Breakfast every morning was a delight, something different every day. Our rooms were cleaned everyday, we returned to the air conditioning on and clean and cool conditions. The rooms were basic but had everything we needed, even a little stocked bar fridge. We ate almost every meal here, the food was great and very affordable. We just billed everything to our room and fixed up the bill every couple of days. I don't think you can run up too much of a tab, I guess people have done a runner in the past without paying, but I found them very friendly and accommodating. It was central to everything and I didn't have a problem with any noise. Security are on patrol at all hours and were very friendly, enjoyed chatting with them. I will definately be staying here again.

I recently returned from my trip to bali sept 5 -16 and very much enjoyed my stay at the dewi sri. The staff were very frendly, helpful and accomodatng.. The pool bar staff were great remembering our favourite cocktail and ensuring the footy was one for us to enjoy as we were over there for the end of the footy season. The breakfast in the morning was always fresh and nice, i would of loved to see some cooked mushrooms but other then that they did a wonderful job, changing the variety each day. We stayed in a superior room overlooking the pool and the noise wasnt an issue at all.Our room was cleaned daily and beautiful frangipanis were put all over our room it was a lovely surprise. They were very quick in returning our laundry and it was such a relief when i got home i didnt have a lot to washing as the staff washed most of our suitcase before we left haha. The pool was amazing and the massage ladies were wonderful... i miss my massages now im back home. Majority of the staffs english was great very friendly people. Would highly recommend this accomodation.. If i could remember names i would do a special thanks ... hopefully we see you again soon Room 203

We have stayed at the Dewi Sri a number of times, and have even got to know some of the staff quite well. I love that they remember who we are each time, right down to our favorite cocktail!!

We stayed in a superior room this time, as the noise from the other side is pretty bad a 3am by all the drunks staggering home!! The room was very nicely presented, but lacked a few basics. The main one was a kettle and coffee etc. not only for a coffee in the morning, but also to clean baby bottles. I've stayed in 2 star hotels even, and they provide those basics... So we were surprised it was not there.

For the most part we really enjoyed the hotel... Breakfast was nice, and the pool is awesome. Only had one incident that left a sour taste; while sitting in the pool, a guest had commented that she was part of a group of 30 couples that were in Bali for a 21st birthday, as the whole package was a fraction of the price of the party (catering, DJ, etc) in Australia. Most were staying at another hotel, but a few were at our hotel. We came out later in the afternoon to use the pool again, and found that the whole group had taken over the pool. It would not be a relaxing time to be had by us ( paying patrons) or for any other guests. You could see that some of the other guests sitting by the pool were not impressed either. While I was at reception checking my room charge balance I mentioned that the majority of people at the pool were not guests, and that actual guests were clearly annoyed at all the skylarking and drunken foul language. I returned to my room, and received a call several minutes later from the manager. She was clearly having a bad day, and gave me an earfull about the pool guests being allowed to do as they please, and if I have a problem with the bill then she will "deal with me" herself. I explained that i had no issue with bill, And if I'm paying about $100 US for the room I should be able to enjoy all the facilities without dealing with that. Shouldn't have to deal with her attitude, and we will not be returning anymore after her barrage. If you have kids, get a villa... Much better value for money, and you don't have to deal with any of this. Oh, and you get a kettle!!!

Room tip: Get the superior room, the standard rooms are old and the hot water system is shocking. Give the staff a tip, they work bloody hard for next to nothing.

When we first arrived we entered through the back of the hotel and were amazed by the grounds of the hotel, which were well kept and simple. The hotel room however was very basic with a very small bathroom with the sink outside of the bathroom. The tv was basic with no remote control. Had the choice of an alcoholic welcome drink, which was delicious :) Breakfast was basic , but was included in the price of the room. The staff were helpful and very friendly. If you get the standard rooms don't expect to sleep through the night as people come back late at night/early in the morning and like to make a lot of noise. We had an enjoyable time, but this hotel would be mostly suited to those travelling in groups.

Room tip: Pay extra for a deluxe room
