On arrival no airport transfer as promised no worries we caught a cab. Arrived at the hotel at 1.00 am, no assistance with our luggage and the porter just pointed at the reception counter.
Paid for our two rooms by Visa card then told the hotel does not accept Visa card for the room service account and they required $100AUD cash. Refusal resulted in no account for the duration of our stay.
The rooms are old and tired and stank. One room the taps fell off the shower and the other had curtains rails that did not meet in the middle leaving a 20 cm gap to ensure a sunrise wake up call ever morning. When I complained they hooked the curtains together so then the curtains were permanently closed, complained again and they moved the tracks creating another gap at the end. Requested another room which was refused.
Determined to have a good holiday we escaped the rooms and headed for the pool area the main feature that has brought us back to this hotel for many years. Only to discovery major renovations under construction. No notice was received of the planned renovation at the time of booking or the 6 months leading up to our arrival nor at the time we checked in.
No swim up bar, no Captain Pablo, no games, no activities, noise of construction, cement dust drifting across the pool, forced to pay for every drink in cash, sunlight streaming into the room every morning at 6.00 am resulted in a very disappointing 6 days.
The spa also under renovation and relocated, spa reception was rarely manned. Made two appointments on both occasions staff were late for both.
Check out was the same as check in, staff disinterested, unhelpful, no assistance with luggage. 2 star service at best.
