Best Western Resort Kuta
Ranked #120 of 253 Hotels in Kuta
Reviewed 7 June 2012

we decided on best western at kubu anyar street, kuta because they have a promotional price for a minimum of 4 nights stay. We paid about S$320 for a deluxe room with breakfast for total of 4 nights which is value for money. The website info on free airport transfer & free shuttle to Kuta centre upon request were incorrect. The hotel only offer 1 way to/fro airport upon request and in this case, we had the hotel staff fetch us from the airport which is merely a 10 mins drive. The hotel cancelled the free shuttle to Kuta centre because it was running full house after we've checked in and this was disappointing.
The nice thing was my boyfriend wrote to the hotel to inform them this is a honeymoon trip & my birthday on 16 Apr. He requested them to do a little surprise for me. When we checked in on 14 Apr, we were delighted to see a small chocolate honeymoon cake, a simple fruit basket, a pair of love swans (folded towels) and lots of lovely rose petals awaiting for us. Not forgetting a bathtub filled with rose petals too. Everything was so perfect till we realised that the mini bar fridge & aircond were not working properly. it was difficult to get to sleep as the room was really stuffy & warm.
However, we managed to change room the next morning. Breakfast was average, sufficient but not elaborate. There are toast, egg station, bacon (too salty), fried rice/noodle, pancake, juice, coffee/tea etc. The service staff at the coffee house is more pleasant and friendlier than the 2 ladies at the front desk. Some private drivers will tout at the hotel entrance for a ride to Kuta centre is IDR 30,000 however, if you take a `blue bird' taxi from the street, it will cost you less than IDR 10,000. There are 2 convenience stores opposite the hotel driveway & it's easy & cheaper to get your juice or soft drinks there.
On 16 Apr, after our 1 day tour, a nice birthday cake with some lovely candles were placed in our room. And this was another pleasant surprise!
Pool bar was affordable and nice, however, the pool need some maintaince as few tiles were broken. Hotel spa was expensive and i didn't see a single soul patronize them. We managed to extend our check out time till 2pm.
Overall experience was good. But should i go to Bali again, i'll like try other resort/hotels within walkable distance to the beach.

Room Tip: Deluxe room on the ground floor facing the pool was cooler & quieter.

We stayed here for 10 nights and had a really relaxing time. The staff are incredible and the rooms and beds are very nice with cool aircon, slowish but free internet and a flat screen TV with AFL. A really good spot for a quiet holiday.. its a bit far from the main of Kuta and alcoholic drinks are expensive but this was great for us as it kept the loud bogans away.

Only bad things were the doors slam really loud.. and we had some neighbours who after 4 days still hadn't figured out how to close the door quietly. SMARTYS. It literally sounded like an episode of Scooby Doo was happening outside our room with doors slamming and opening constantly. The other 6 days have been pretty good.. most people are respectable.

Breakfast is pretty average. You have to order your bacon and eggs and they are not the best quality. The buffet options are pretty terrible.. the sausages taste like plastic and the milk is never cold. Also the food is often empty when the hotel is busy. The fruit and the Asian breakfast are always well stocked and tastey.

Also there is no fitness facility contrary to what Agoda says.. nor does this hotel back onto the beach. Its actually quite far from the beach.

Room Tip: 4th floor was pretty quiet for 6 out of the 10 days.

I stayed one night on my way to Sydney. I got the complimentary one way shuttle from the airport. I was upgraded to a superior room which was very spacious. The staff were extremely friendly and when I had an issue with the bath tap and a missing room service order they fell over themselves to sort the problems out. The room Walls are quite thin. The plasmas are attached to the Walls and you can hear tvs coming through the wall from next door. The doors are quite difficult to close so it was a lot of slamming along the corridor during the night that can wake you up. It is about a 10 minute walk to the main road for restaurants and ATM's. The hotel is situated down some back street roads.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the front road

They say that customer service in key and in this situation it was.

The Good:
- Deep big pool
- Good pool bar
- Great dinner
- Great breakfast
- Great cheap cocktails and beer
- Personalized service
- Quiet and relaxing
- Pool bar stays open as long as you keep spending (how it should be)
- Grounds diesel fogged regularly meaning I never saw 1 insect!
- Circle K literately across the road (pool to Circle K for beers and back >2min)
- Clean

The Bad:
- Pool had some black mold and missing tiles.
- Location is behind waterbom park down a slightly dodgy alleyway.

The fact that the staff remembered our names without ever asking us what they were was amazing. They were always respectful and helpful. The welcome drink was too good!

Ive stayed at Kuta Paradiso (3 nights) and Hard Rock (7 nights) and to be honest, when I return ill be staying here again because its such a better hotel and pretty cheap. Whilst staying at the Hard Rock I walked to the Best Western to drink in their pool bar!
This is how a hotel should be,

Room Tip: Get a pool view room on ground floor!
