The place is excellent in the midst of wildlife in forest and two rivers. The suite is spacious and very well decorated. Personnel were all friendly and the food was good.
We did a river safari which was stunning with crocodiles, birds and dolphins. The sunset over a calm river were breathtaking.
On the downside it was pricey. But hey, at least we contributed to some eco development in India.

We really enjoyed our time at Chambal. The cottage we stayed in was very comfortable. The staff and management were absolutely great. Breakfast was limited and just OK but the lunch and dinner buffets were wonderful. We had some of the best food we ate anywhere in India.
The campfire was lit the first night and the owner greeted us as we were introduced to the other guests. The families staying there at that time were from Delhi and we really enjoyed having a few drinks together and visiting with them and their children around the fire.
We saw jackals and civet cats near the lodge and went on a lovely sunset visit to the nearby ancient 108 Bateshwar temples on the river. We even joined in a Hindu religious ceremony in one of the temples, which was very interesting to us.
We took a river tour the next day and saw so many different birds and the garials, turtles and river dolphins were out in full force on that beautiful day. Our guide was great.
We really enjoyed our time there.

We had four lovely days in the lodge. Our room was one of the best we had in India - nicely furnished and well laid out. The food was really good and the lunch, served under the trees, was in a dream setting.
The side trips they will arrange for you are fabulous and well worth the money and our guide, Dusyant, was one of the nicest and most helpful men we have ever dealt with in India. This is simply a great way to see aspects of rural and natural Inia which you will proably never see elsewhere. An unforgettable experience

The resort gives you a feeling of being at home, the food is lovely and traditional. The place has such amazing wildlife in and around the property that it makes it very exciting to stay here. I have been to this place more than four times now and will surely say its a must go for people who wish to get away from the city life and relax.

The best place to see Dolphins and Gharials up close. For birds it goes without saying that its a lovely habitat.

We stayed at Chambal for two days in Jan 2012. As the other reviewers say, it's kind of pricey, but there are lots of great things to do, especially for kids, and we had a lovely time. Our eight year old son rated it the best place I have every stayed" and he's a pretty tough customer when it comes to being entertained if there is no TV, no computer, and no consistent access to his iPod because the complex runs off a generator and daytime solar.

We went on the river tour (saw two Gangetic dolphins and a garial !!), a visit to Bateshwar Temples on the Yamuna River, and a camel safari to see the fort. For me the camels and fort were the highlight, because we were the ONLY people in this enormous fort, which was just as good as something like Hyuman's tomb or the Red Fort in Delhi. We also had free run of the fort, and could climb etc (with our guide, who kept the kids out of the dangerous places). Magic.

One night we also went looking for civet cats (and found a whole family group). We also saw mongoose, jackals, and many wonderful birds. There are wandering rhesus macaques in the grounds as well. This place is a wonderful antidote to crazy, dirty Agra and Delhi and it's a lovely place for kids to run around.

Room Tip: Our kids got bitten badly by some kind of insect - either bedbugs or mosquitoes. They provide insect...
