Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: 300 INR per person ($5 equivalent). Delwara, also known as the 'City of Gods', is no ordinary village, and The Delwara Heritage and Community Walk is not your typical walking tour. We invite you to delve into Delwara's rich cultural heritage and gain a broader understanding of small-town India on its path to development! The Walk is in many ways a window into contemporary India, where high caste and low caste, Hindu and Muslim, rich and poor, village and city, tradition and modernity coexist side by side. Unlike other heritage walks, our walk goes beyond physical heritage to explore Delwara's social inheritance. The Walk was founded in 2013 as a project of Seva Mandir's local Youth Center. It is guided by local young adults, and was mainly researched through extensive interviews with Delwara's people. It seeks not only to provide a livelihood to the guides, but to make them owners and teachers of their village, the very definition of empowered and engaged citizens.

If you're interested in learning about Rajasthan's history and culture this tour is a must. We were pleased to have Dinesh as our tour guide. He took us through his village and passionately introduced us to its rich history and culture. The tour includes visites to small artisan workshops and old temples. We also enjoyed walking through the narrow streets of Delwara and interacting with the locals. Highly recommended!

This walk was a wonderful opportunity to get to see a local village through the eyes of someone who lives there. The temples were spectacular, the knowledge gained about local life was incredibly interesting and the welcome and hospitality felt were warming. The visit to the women's initiative and learning more about the organization was also a major highlight. A great activity whether you are staying at Devigarh or just visiting the region.

My wife and I had a great experience walking through Delwara together with our guide Himmat. He made us feel the rural life in that area of Rajahstan, understand the castes system still alive today and introduced us to the so friendly people of Delwara.

An absolute must do if you are in the area.

We were collected at the devigah hotel by a charming young man and walked to the attached village. We were shown the stepwell, houses, school, shops and temples. Our delightful guide explained the history of the village and what happens in the village. This was all very interesting and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. I would highly recommend this if you are staying nearby.

We decided to take the village tour while staying at RAAS for vacation. Our guide Dinesh is young and passionate, we truly learnt from his experience and got some new perspectives from Dinesh. Consider this experience if you want to know a bit about local culture or have decent conversation with educated young guide.
