Very nice heritage hotel

Review of Haveli Inn Pal
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 5 June 2019via mobile
The furnishings gave this place great ambience and we loved the elevated four poster bed. The air conditioning was not really adequate and this was a minus for us. Our room had a view of tge water which was pleasant. We did struggle with the wifi a bit as well but this is often the case in India. The rooftop restaurant had a spectacular view of the fort which was worth the price of it all really. The breakfast was a bit average. The location was excellent for the market and old town although long distance taxis weren't allowed inside the walls. Overall this is a very nice place and worth a stay despite a few deficits.

I originally wanted to stay at the sister hotel, Pal Haveli, but it was fully booked and despite being booked into another hotel my tour operator managed to get me a room at the Haveli Inn Pal. I requested a heritage view room but when I arrived the gentleman booking me in said he thought I'd be better off on the ground floor as it wouldn't be so noisy. The arrival procedure was not exactly welcoming and also you are expected to climb some steep steps to check in.

The room I was originally allocated was dark and had no view as you were basically in the entrance to the hotel. It was quite a large room and bathroom but quite basic looking with two small twin beds pushed against either wall. Very hard too. The only toiletries given are a bar of soap and, of course, the limited amount of awful toilet paper.

The restaurant was on the roof and, yes, very steep steps to reach three floors up. The view of the fort from the top was fantastic though, especially in the evening when lit up. I believe the other restaurant at the sister hotel has a lift part way up.

Breakfast was taken on the roof but was quite basic with not much choice, however, I did have some pancakes made and they were nice.

There is a cafe on the market side of the hotel and I used this for a drink and was going to eat there the following evening but it was closed earlier than advertised.

When I returned from my tour the next day I was informed the air cooling in my room was broken so I had to move to the room next door. This room had a double bed and was laid out better than the first. However, when I switched off the lights and tried to put them back on again nothing worked. Every time the lights were switched on/off they blew the circuit.

The hotel is in such a good location to the market and clock tower.

I realise this hotel is old and an heritage building but some of the fittings could be updated.

Room tip: If you can't climb steep steps have a ground floor room but be prepared for having no view

We stayed here for 2 nights in February 2019. Loved it! We were on the second floor and had a spectacular view of the Fort from our bed!!! The staff was sweet. We especially loved the servers at the roof top restaurant! They were so helpful and accommodating!
We were within walking distance to almost everything. We could have stayed here a full week!!!
Breakfast was simple and yummy. You had a choice of eggs, crepes, fruit, coffee and tea! We loved it!! Dinner was great!!! And the view was......PERFECT!!!!

Room tip: second floor....views are BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

Excellent location near the Clock Tower and Sardar Market, and very friendly and accommodating staff. My room was spacious and comfortable, and the bed very comfortable. The internet was slow and limited in capacity, meaning that it was difficult to even send emails during popular times in the evening and morning. The breakfast is limited but sufficient and the rooftop breakfast restaurant has wonderful views to the fort and of the blue houses of old Jodhpur.

We stayed here during the holi festival and had an amazing time. Wonderful rooftop restaurant overlooking the fort on the hill, with fantastic staff (Som😊)
Rooms had amazing views, huge comfortable beds and great hospitality. Some lovely gift and furniture shops in the courtyard underneath. Highly recommended when in Jodhpur!

Located in the extremely noisy part of Jodhpur. Avoid the ground floor and their rather outdated rooms without any view! The only positive point is their restaurant on the roof top with nice food for dinner.
