This place is one of the many vintage havelis which dot the Rajasthan map and now converted into hotel. The property is good, clean, well maintained and tastefully decorated with genuine antique pieces in every room. You will enjoy your stay here for its rich yet economical royal experience and this place is very near to only attraction in Bikaner which is Junagrah Fort. Please don't expect any room service, although hotel serves breakfast and dinner at designated time.I didn't get a bottle of water which i required badly at 11:30 in night as kitchen was closed, staff was sleeping and not willing to get up.

Getting in that hotel is like a step back in time with all the pictures and old genuine old furniture as it was the residence of the former prime ministrer of the region. Ou room was huge with high ceiling, dressing room and big bathroom.
Lot of stairs, rooms are scattered all around the property. Location is not so convenient, about 20' ricksaw from the old town but only a few minutes walk from the new one with all its shopping.
Service was very poor and so was the food, lots of mosquitoes.
Hotel shops has great jewellry.

Good location, nice garden but the sraff very unfriendly! A lot of mistakes happened what was included or not. And we were not the only one. It's a pitty that the management tries to pull you off on everything (pay a high price for a tour that includes drinks to find out they weren't, did some laundry and were charged a hugh price, etc). So be warned. Will not come back here!

Stayed 4 days at the Bhairon Vilas last November. Place looks great, had a lovely room on the ground floor, but was a big disappointment: room was never cleaned (had to ask for fresh towels and toilet paper every day). Hotel was infested with mosquitos due to spraying of garden and gravel with water. Contracted CHIKUNGUNYA, which causes joint problems (like dengue), and therefore spent part of our trip in bed as I could hardly walk; have still not recovered fully. Overall: NOT RECOMMENDED, so stay away, also because Bikaner is not a very friendly place (ladies: cover up to prevent feeling unsafe and getting stared at a lot).

Though not backpackers we are budget travelers, however when a really great hotel experience can be had a a reasonable rate we splurge a bit. Bhairon Villas is a charming former prime ministers residence with manicured grounds and an excellent restaurant-Tamarind, and wee enjoyed a 3 day stay there very much..

We opted for a heritage room. It was very large, lots of memorabilia on the walls, very regal with two big arm chairs. Room was very clean and well kept up. We did run into a couple of small concerns that were corrected immediately by the management.

Other reviewers have been unenthusiastic about the restaurant. Perhaps it has been improved because we enjoyed it immensely, with both garden dining and a luxurious inside dinning room. The Indian food was superb and the prices extremely reasonable. We had eaten at a couple of "family" restaurants in town with little ambiance, yet their prices were similar to the Tamarind.

Another plus is the close location to the palace, which is the most interesting one I've visited in India. The hotel is centrally located and within a 5 minute auto rickshaw ride from the many restaurants near the train station.

I recommend this hotel for a special treat, it costs a bit more but you get a lot more. Only downside, don't expect smiles from the staff, but they are efficient.
