We booked this excursion as an extra on our tour and didn't regret it. Not too strenuous and worth the trip up to see the fort and the fabulous views.

How one could have built this 1600 years ago is a reflection of Indian engineering. This is an impregnable Fort and inspires awe. I wish it were better maintained. Efforts by ASI to renovate the run down palace of the king into a museum are welcome. They should run a sound and light show around the johar area as well. There are many temples of interest as well as mosques and mausoleum.

This spectacular fortress was built more than a 1000 years ago on a rocky outcrop and sits in the middle of Ranthambore sanctuary. Ride in an open 4 wheel vehicle then hike to the fort, a huge structure with fascinating history and fine craftmanship.

Access to the fort is via many steps and a long climb but, taken gently, it's achievable for most people. The fort offers amazing views over the national park and there are lots of buildings and monuments to see at the top.
