This was our first home-stay so I was bit skeptical. But as soon as we met Debjit & family, we realized that this is going to be one of our most memorable stay.
Guest rooms are restored elegantly. You've quite a few options for 'things to-do'. Debjit himself took us thru' a forest trail to a beautiful, secluded village. But I'll personally prefer this as the best place to stay & 'Do Nothing'...! very relaxing surroundings....!
We are a vegetarian family & hosts really took care of that. In fact, we tasted some of the best delicacies of our lifetime during the stay. Authentic traditional recipes & locally grown vegetables have their own magical taste here.
The couple themselves are full of stories & anecdotes spanning over vast period. Both are remarkable hosts. Not to forget their cute little daughter, who became part of our family & even joined us for excursion.
Best wishes for challenging restoration task on their hand....
It was a great pleasure to stay here with our most kind hosts.
The accommodation and the history is fascinating. The meals with the family were just excellent and something to look forward to every day. Debjit kindly showed us the charm of rural Orissa including local villages, markets and the forest.
We only stayed three days and wish we could have stayed many more. Very highly recommended. I would like to give six stars.
Looks old but the way they treat us was awesome, foods was served very well manner and the way they greet us is awesome. I will prefer my friends too next time we will stay on Same place
A quiet place in the middle of nowhere. Great hospitality which make you feel like at home. Enjoy the conversation with Debjit et Namrata : they have a lot to say about India and you could learn more with them within 24 h than during a one month stay on your own. Food is great and hot chilli peppers as well as curry leaves come from the garden. Go with Debjit by walk, bike or car and you will end on an elephant trail, a tribal market or a local Jagannath temple. A place to be, for sure.
I found the look of the house so unusual than I booked without knowing a lot about where we were going. It was an exceptionnel discovery for many reasons : the character of the house and his history, the hospitality of the family ( Debjit walked and byked with us and we discovered unspoiled villages) the cooking of Namrata was delicious. It was a true hospitality .
Luckily we hadn't planed the following days and we followed Debjit suggestions to go to the Aul palace then to the one of his sister in Puri, and in fact this was a 9 days adventure, our best one perhaps in India ( we travelled a total of 6 month in India in our life)
