Fort Cochin is a bustling, vibrant, colourful and friendly place to visit. The Malabar House is a colourful, elegant and friendly place to rest.
Our host Lallu and her team are the ones that make it so special. Nothing is too much trouble, they are happy to help, chat, advise or just wave a friendly hello.
We ate at their pool side restaurant and enjoyed a couple of delicious meals, the menu caters for all tastes. The musicians played most evenings which added to the ambiance.
There is also a tapas and wine bar upstairs which is air conditioned and serves some very good Indian wines, we can certainly recommend the 'Viognier'.
The rooms are furnished simply but elegantly with interesting antiques, sculptures and art work.
We loved the extra little touches, just when you were getting peckish, along comes cookies, then later in the evening hand made chocolates.
We were lucky enough to have a cookery demonstration with 'Anoop' the sous-chef which we later enjoyed for lunch. Melvin was kind enough to help me send a large parcel home from the post office. The paperwork could otherwise have been overwhelming. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and a special thank yous to, Alan, Booney, Lallu, Melvin and Anoop.
We hope to return soon. Justina and FrancesMore
