It is very interesting and picturesque to see these huge nets standing side by side along the sea. Even more fun to see in action.

We have visited the place and participate with the locals by lifting the nets..but they were not fish in the nets lifted and I was wondering is it a tourist show to demonstrate how it was in the past it the do hope to catch a fish. A question I was left with no answer..

Been there in December, low crowd but loads n loads of garbage dumped around the coast line. Need to walk a bit from.the town center to rea h the nets.
Hardly a handful.of them.left, and just one of them was used for demonstration (for foreign visitors).
Ine can probably find similar ones all through Kochi's coast.
Only good feature is when you visit it around sunset or sunrise, and are lucky enough to catch a cruise sail by...it gives a very painting like image..which is worth spending time at.

Went here on our first day in Cochin as it’s one of the top attractions. We were not impressed the beach is covered in litter and if you explore more they have these fishing nets all over and much more authentic and not touristy

I remember the days, decades back, when the Chinese Fishing Nets in Cochin were authentic and charming -- that was the "old world style" and always a treat for the eyes, especially at sunrise and sunset. Today, many of them have become eye-sores, located in poorly maintained places, with plastic litter strewn all over. In many cases the old wood work has been replaced with steel tubes and the authenticity is lost. And, they don't catch too many fish too, any longer, this way. In some remote locations in Kerala, like the inner reaches of the Vembanadu Lake, one can still find the "old style" Chinese Fishing Nets but you have got to look for them.
