I had booked 3 rooms, and all 3 were stinking badly! Washrooms were not clean, rooms were not at all clean and though we checked in at 5:00 pm, still our rooms were not ready. However, view from one side of the room was nice, and was straight view of mountains of vaishno devi. Staff was lazy, but helpful. i do not suggest this for family people. Hotel does not have wifi too.

Room Tip: if you have to live here, choose the room with mountain view

Visited 2 days ago.

Booked 4 rooms in Hotel Dolphin.
When we reached Katra, got picked by Their Maruti Omni in 2 trips as we were 11 members.

Now the twist

The driver dropped us at some Hotel Parin / Jagdambey near Dolphin Hotel.
Two more families were there with us who got the same issue.

When we asked for the reason for such we got 3 different answers

1. Dolphin hotel & this Parin/ Jagdambey is owned by same person & due to so.e renovation in Dolphin all guests are moved here.

2. There is Electric short circuit happened & A.C power supply is interrupted for all rooms so booking is moved here.

3. Dolphin is sold out to some one else so he cancelled all booking made 2 days ago & we are catering all those guests.

These explanation has been given by Lobby manager, driver, and other staff members.

Now come to rooms.
As this hotel (Parin/ Jagdambey) was closed for almost 3-4 years and just reopened so rooms are very pathetic, smelly & unable to stay but we had no other option as we already paid the money.

I gave one star only for dinner quality which was above the expectation.

As Dolphin is a 3 star hotel, so we were expecting the replacement in same or equivalent category hotel. We were told that this Parin/ Jagdambey is Costlier than Dolphin which is a laughable statement after our experience.

Rooms were full of cockroaches & other insects & we killed many of them with our sleepers :)

The staff is so careless, casual. They don't know ABCD of customer service.

Please avoid these 2 hotels if you can.

I want #Tripaevisor @tripadvisor to degrade the rating of Dolphin hotel to 1-2 star

This is a pure value for money property. Located just a km away from the Pilgrimage centre, it offers spacious room and hot food. Can't expect too much, but you do get bang for your buck. The receptionist needs to get more professional in according priorities to his tasks, he was busy answering a guest's query after having recharged the guest's mobile for Rs. fifty, for over 20 minutes and then checked us in. I thought this was a stupid way of running a hotel. The receptionist is the first point of contact for a guest

We got a Super Deluxe room with a magnificent view of Vaisno-Devi Hill from Balcony. Room was spacious, clean. Management and staff were courteous and efficient. During our two days stay, wifi was down which was a big letdown. Kitchen served homely food without onion (as required by pilgrims).
Drop facility to Banganga is provided by hotel but driver will motivate you to buy Prasad etc from shops for commission, don’t fall for it.
