The zoo is set in a paradise of thick forest and is kept reasonably clean (plenty of bins - which is rare in Goa). The gardens are well maintained by what seems a large team. The issue I have is the cramped conditions many of the animals are kept in. Watching animals pacing back and forth in small enclosures is quite upsetting. The elephant was chained and had no freedom to wander and the poor wild cats were in tiny rusting cages.

Very clean and well maintained zoo. The staff working at the premises are friendly and share all kinds of memories about the animals. However the sad part of my visit was the missing bengal tiger, according to staff it had passed away couple of days ago. All in all amazing trip and a very good day out.
