New Lighthouse Restt doesnt inspire confidence at first sight because it is in open shed style , with kitchen at one end . We felt better once seated and finding ourselves amidst a full house and all tables occupied clearly indicative of the popularity of the place. The place is understaffed and it took us some time to catch the attention of a waiter and place our order. The variety of sea food available here is truly amazing . Live crabs are displayed at one end close to the kitchen and one could choose the unfortunate candidate for slaughter . I walked across to another corner to choose the fish , and thankfully the fish had already been taken out of the water for display . We had chicken biryani and grilled Red snapper . The latter dish was simply awesome indeed. Service is slow because each order is prepared afresh and one has to bear that in mind. 1.30 pm in Port Blair is not exactly cool and the sun was beating down rather mercilessly and we did indeed dearly miss air con whist we waited to be served. Maybe some day this place will get enclosed and air conditioned , making dining experience even better . Highly recommended ! Will definitely go again , air con or no air con !!
