We stayed at the Manava Suite hotel and thought we'd have a convenient lunch -- right on property. Checked out both menus and selected this one -- there were 3 of us. Two of us had the tempura meal which was supposed to be shrimp, calamari, and fish tempura with fries. It was attractively served but the calamari although shaped like rings and you'd expect it to be calamari it couldn't have been -- it tasted like fishy fish shaped in a ring and fried. The shrimp were very small; the fish was the most edible of the 3 tempura items -- the fries were terrific, however. The lunch was $26.50 for the tempura meal. The Chix Caesar was $20. But who wants to survive on French fries on their stay in Tahiti. So I'd say the meal on a scale of 1-10 was a 2 and the person who had the chicken Caesar salad rated her meal as a 4. Dressing was terrible -- nothing resembling Caesar dressing. We didn't have mixed drinks so can't comment on what they'd be like. The server was very pleasant and had a great attitude but served lousy food, hence the title of the review. Luckily we only had 2 days there. What I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND, however, is going down the street and eating at the food trucks just one block to the left as you walk out of the hotel lobby on the street. Great variety, casual, and great prices. Nothing fancy, but you'll be much happier eating an early dinner there -- start serving at the food trucks about 6:15 pm. Unfortunately they don't open for lunch -- if they were, this restaurant would be out of business!! So in summary, the staff was pleasant and friendly, but the food was subpar. TIP: the adjacent table had a burger and that guest thought it was great -- so don't get seafood, stick with a burger and fries.
