My wife and I loved our experience at Turtle Island. We wanted to experience the beauty of the Fiji Islands and were not disappointed. Our Bure was lovely, and we stepped out each morning onto a white, sandy beach. Our Bure Mama, Adi, saw to our every need. She, and the entire staff made our visit most memorable. We have never encountered friendlier, happier or more genuine people! The locally sourced food was exquisite, as was the experience of the community table mixed with private dining experiences all over the island. We thought it was a perfect setting, but it won't be everyone's cup of tea, so fo your research;
It is a self-sustain tropical paradise 50 miles from the mainland with only 28 guests. Therefore, no extensive menu, though the food is great and they can cater to certain needs (my wife is allergic to seafood, there was always an accommodation). The Bure is gorgeous, but the air conditioning is limited to over your bed during the sleeping hours. It worked great, and the beds were wonderful, but during the day, the Bure windows are open and cooled by fan. We just didn't spend much time in our Bure during the day! We were at the private beaches or visiting other guests with a cocktail down by the dock or horseback riding or paddle boarding or visiting a local village, etc! The point is, if your looking to totally unplug and be pampered on a private island, this is the best you will find. IF you want a huge menu, a world class wine list (their wine was very good, but we weren't in Bordeaux for crying out loud), nearby shopping and nightlife (Kava time beats any nightclub) then go somewhere else. For our money, Turtle Island was the best vacation we've ever had!

This was our second time to Turtle as we were there in Feb. 2018. This trip was so memorable too. The island staff honored us with a "Celebration of Life". We had Leis and cake and music and every one cried. it was so wonderful! My husband, Pat, was again honored to be chief for a week. That means he is Kava king too!

Our island hosts, Rob and Landi are just the best hosts. I think we left with even a greater love of the Fijian people. Our Mama Taru was again our go to person.

Room tip: There are only 14 buras to choose from and all are great. some more expensive than others

Food was gourmet (including, yes, a cheeseburger) and 70% is locally grown. They continually refer to you as family but royalty is more applicable. The private beaches are fantastic. Snorkeling and scuba are world class. Being off the grid allows intimate connection with the other guests (28 guests max). The Fijian staff is beyond description- from your Bure mama to food service to entertainment to maintenance to activities. It is fascinating and fun to learn about and participate in the Fijian culture, ceremonies, and activities. They make you forget about the heat, humidity and mosquitoes.

Room tip: Both European an US electrical outlets are in each room.

You haven't lived until you've experienced Turtle Island.

Usually, I don't return to resorts, but I definitely want to return to this one.

It is the most connective experience I have ever had at a resort. The Turtle Island management and staff are happy, warm, kind, friendly, welcoming and inclusive. That uplifting energy is transferred to all the guests even to those who are usually reserved and introverted.

This well-run first-class resort is not stuffy and unfriendly. Whether you are royalty or a celebrity everyone is treated as the most important people in the world. They were always one step ahead of you to provide the most hospitable experience. For example, we were racing with kayaks and staff member (Padi) on a paddle-board and when we reached the shore, immediately we were greeted with a tray of cool Tropical drinks. Anytime we wanted anything it was anticipated on our behalf. They knew what we wanted before we did.

We admired the sustainability of this resort. They grow their own organic vegetables and fruit and make their own furniture from mahogany trees on the island. They even have their own desalination plant to supply all their water.

This fortunate resort has an exceptional management team, Rob and Landi. They ensure that the guests receive optimal service in all aspect’s enjoyment and safety – while we were at Turtle Island, there were two separate incidences requiring immediate medical and dental attention. They arranged transport and appointments and had these guests return within hours to continue enjoying the rest of their vacation. This was very impressive as one may worry about the remoteness of a private island and its capabilities to handle any unforeseeable emergencies.

Another couple, my wife and I all have backgrounds in the hospitality industry and have traveled extensively to many other first-class resorts – throughout Fiji, Bora Bora, Maldives, Cook Islands, Caribbean just to name a few. Therefore, we can recognize and know that Rob and Landi are the most engaged resort managers that we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They work very hard and because they are professionals, they make their efforts invisible.

Knowing that we were completely looked after and cared for made every day enjoyable. Every day was fun. From snorkeling excursions, private beach picnics, mountaintop, and cliff-point dining, horseback riding, sunset boat cruise, singing, and dancing (blame it on the Kava, which flows freely every night) or just simply relaxing on a daybed, this resort is fun. Absolutely guaranteed a memorable good time for everyone.

Sell the house and the cars, go stay there and be treated like royalty, you will be glad you did.

Room tip: Bure#5 Loved the comfy bed, windows all around, spaciousness and gorgeous Jacuzzi, as pictured on their website. Bure#1 has the nicest view.

We love Turtle Island because we are treated as a family member! Yes, the private beaches, food, drinks, activities, free laundry, sun raise horseback ride, sunset cruise, etc. are all exceptional but the Turtle Island Family is why we return to this beautiful Island. This is not a hotel, it is a private Island vacation that you will only experience at Turtle Island. Every Turtle Island family member will know your name and greet you with "Bula Bula." Turtle Island is all about the Fiji experience. Our Bure Mama Lu was wonderful, she made our stay so easy, taking care of every little detail and reservations. Turtle Island managers Landi and Rob are wonderful and are excellent hosts. They have made Turtle Island even more beautiful and welcoming. Their puppy Zak was an awesome addition to the Island family, he would visit our bure and go along with Island walks with us. Once Discovered, Never Forgotten is absolutely true. Discover Tranquility and renew Romance!Art and Patti, Vero Beach Florida

Room tip: Our private beachfront villa "bure" overlook the beautiful blue lagoon! Love the private outdoor shower.
