“Such a Lovely Hotel Spoilt by the Noise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2012

We booked this holiday for our wedding anniversary and were looking forward to a relaxing beach holiday.

It is difficult to find fault with this hotel.

The rooms are a little dated, and could do with a refurbishment but they are exceptionally clean. The bathrooms only have a shower, which is fine, however the shower cubicles are a little bit claustrophobic but the shower itself is good.

The hotel grounds are exceptional (I think these are the best maintained gardens I have seen in Egypt) and to maintain the gardens to such an exceptional standard takes a lot of hard work.

The breakfast buffet is not the best I have ever had choice wise but it served its purpose well. However, one thing I would criticise is the cakes. Considering there is an onsite bakery, the cakes are very dry. We had a cake from the bakery one evening that looked delicious but was so dry it was inedible.

The beach area was spotlessly clean and there are plenty of sunbeds so there is no need to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve your bed but plenty of people do this and do not return until lunchtime.

As for the staff, they are absolutely faultless. They are so friendly and polite, and nothing is too much trouble for any of them. I would also point out that at no time did I ever feel they expected a tip for any little “extra” they did for you.

Unfortunately, there is a major downside, which I feel I should make people aware of, as it will prevent me from returning not only this hotel but to the Naama Bay area in general. When we first arrived, we were allocated room 2313. We had a dreadful flight to Egypt and were looking forward to getting to the hotel and getting an early night. Not a chance. Being located in the centre of Naama Bay I expected there to be a certain level of noise but I was in no way prepared for the loudness or for the length of time, this went on for. It was like being in a disco and sleep was impossible until after 4.00am. We mentioned this at Reception who explained (as we already guessed) that as the noise coming from outside the hotel there is very little they can do, however they did note our comments.

After a few more days and still not getting any sleep, we went to Guest Relations and spoke to Ursina. Ursina was extremely sympathetic and very helpful. She explained that the noise was coming from Pacha and Monty’s (in Naama Bay) and also from the Bedouin area who have a licence to play music until 4.00am. The hotel is obviously very aware of the situation and the problems it is causing.

Without hesitation, Ursina offered us a move of room and we went to room 115. This room was a lot smaller than our previous room and faced the service road but in the hope of finally getting a decent night’s sleep, we took the room. Ursina also assured us that if we were not happy there were other rooms available.

Sadly, this room did not fare much better. Although we were unable to hear music from the previous areas, we were now subject to noise from a nearby hotel, which we suspect may have been the Ghazala. This went on until approximately 2.00am.

We stuck this out for a couple of nights and then we took Ursina up on her offer of another move to 3113. This room was much the same as our first room but faced the main dual carriage way. There was a lot of traffic noise but at least you could not hear any music!!! We finally got a half decent nights sleep in this room but as the road is never quite there were occasional disturbance from tooting horns and screeching brakes but this was preferable to music thumping through your body.

This is such a lovely hotel and its a shame that the noise issues would prevent me and other guests from returning.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the main road appear to be the quietest.

OK...so we stayed at the Jolie Ville Resort & Casino for a week in Naama Bay. The hotel is rated 5 star, and we got a good price for it, plus the reviews were all positive. So what did we think? Read on...

Firstly, the service I must admit was very good. The attendants, restaurant staff, front desk staff etc were all very nice and accomodating. I would say around 4 star standard.

The location was great for us, but this is dependent on person to person. It was right on the doorstep of the main strip, so all the nightlife, bars, restaurants, shops etc. were literally in front of us. However, this also had a downside - at night, you can hear, fairly loudly all the music from the clubs and bars in your room....very annoying if you are trying to get to sleep! If you do go for this hotel, I would stress the importance of getting a room away from the noisy strip end.

The food was ok. Breakfast was the same everyday, and had decent variety, but the food did not feel completely fresh. Again, I would say around 3 - 4 star standard.

Where it got VERY disappointing was the actual room. It was quite old looking, not at all renovated etc. The bed was very large, and the room was fairly spacious, but a quick refurb would do it wonders! The bathroom only had a shower, was in a very old state, was very small, and the shower kept leaking out into the main bathroom area. Despite four attempts by the staff to repair it, the leaks persisted! I would say the room was more typical of 2-3 star.

The pool are was nice, but compared to other hotels, the pool was small, and not at all as lavish as you may find in other hotels - also only one pool! Again, I would say 3 star.

All in all, I would rate the hotel 3 star, definitiley not 5 star, but for us, the location was the key thing that was beneficial!

Room Tip: Pick a room that is away from the main strip end otherwise you will be kept awake at night from all...

This is the perfect hotel if you wish to be in Naama Bay as opposed to in the major resort areas (Naama Bay provides options for eating, shopping and walking outside the hotel area,). Jolie Ville has by far the best beach in Naama Bay, very friendly staff and by far the most gorgeous gardens. The pools and beach are kept impeccably clean. Considering its very central location (downtown can be very loud and busy), the hotel itself is very serene, spacious and well kept. The pool is heated to a very nice temperature, which is rare, and the kids' pool is partly under a roof, which is great for the little ones. The beach menu is perfect for lunch and the barbecue restaurant offers terrific dinners. I will definitely consider coming back again.

third time vistor and no surprises though detected inprovements to an already very good evening buffet selection. The hotel and grounds are immaculately maintained and the private beach a welcome retreat.
The evening cocktail bar atmopshere can be a little too formal though the staff compensate with friendly service. In fact without exception the staff are unfailingly polite and helpful.
Be sure to specify main hotel complex when booking as you have too cross a road to the two adjacent blocks.
I tried underused Jolie Ville spa and can recommend treatment .
Sharm itself is usual mix of tatty shops, cafes etc, Camel Bar in the town worth a visit.
A good choice for spring or winter break though tour operators sardine packed charter flights dont make the 5 hour flight the most enjoyable of experiences.

Room Tip: Book main block away from town side and ask for first floor room,

Ive just come back from a lovely week away with my partner, where we stayed at the maritim Jolie Ville Hotel, Sharm el Sheikh, Naama Bay, Egypt. This hotel is amazing. We stayed here two years ago and vowed we would go back there, so we did and its got even better. The 1st night we were greeted with a lovely welcome from all the staff and a fruit basket, bottle of wine, snacks and flowers. We only did bed and breakfast, as its right on the Naama bay strip so theres always plenty of places to eat. The breakfast has a huge variety of different foods, all fresh and very tasty!! The hotel was alwas kept so clean, with beautiful surroundings! All the staff were so pleasent and hospitable. We're a young couple but its suitable for all ages!! I would reccomend this hotel to anyone wanting to go to Sharm! Perfect location and perfect hotel!
