Stayed here in March and it was superb - the staff were so happy, polite and friendly and couldnt do enough for you. We held a party for our new friends' 50th wedding anniversary at the Cuban restaurant and the staff were amazing.

We stayed at this hotel around a 7 night stay on the Nile cruise. We did not arrive until late on the first day due to delays because of the snow so we had one full day to explore before going off on the cruise. It was a bit annoying that we had to fill in all the paperwork again at the reception on our return. The hotel was spotless, the rooms were very spacious and the gardens beautiful.
The food in the main building was very good although we only eat there in the morning and one evening. The other days we ate lunch at the beach restaurant. On the other evenings we ate at the a la carte restaurants which we very good. We also ate at the sister hotel's Oriental restaurant. It would have been nice to have had menus before going to these restaurants as you did not know what to expect for example we were told to go to the buffet at the oriental restaurant where we filled ourselves up and then a mini barbecue with cooked meat arrived and we had to leave most of it.
We used the pools but had difficult finding sun beds as they were reserved by towels as early as 6.30 in the morning despite the rules around the pools saying beds should not be reserved. Needless to say this was not just the Germans who were the main guests at this hotel. The beach area was clean and tidy and beds were easily available.
The evening entertainment could have been better the sound systems were very poor. It was difficult to get a seat on the most uncomfortable chairs and settees I have ever sat on as the bases are very long and you have to lean back.
You also have to be wary of the shop sellers who pester you to come in we avoided them by going up another set of stairs.

Room Tip: We had rooms 1721 and 1723 on our stay which is a ground floor and quiet

Stayed at this hotel as a combination with a Nile cruise. For an all inclusive hotel, it is OK for the cost of the package. The service in the beach bar is hit n miss. The service for drinks at night can be very slow. We ate on the Italian the first week and the meal was great, the second week we ate again and it was a disaster! The food was only average and the drinks service was non existent. We asked for a glass of ice four times and in the end, I went to the bar myself as it was quicker.
Self service restaurant.....plenty of choice. Egg station at breakfast always busy however, the ingredients in the omelette were so sparse there was no taste. Lunchtime, good selection of food. Most of the staff spoke Dutch or German and few English. Always plenty of beds if you are an early riser. If you like a lay in, the beds on the beach will all be gone! The usual ‘towels on the beds’ at 7.30 in the morning.
Would we stay again...yes of the price is still right.

We stayed at the Labranda Royal Makadi following a weeks cruise on the Nile. Our first impressions were very encouraging and everything got better and surpassed all expectations. The apartments and the gardens were really amazing and the whole complex was spotless. The food in the main building was excellent with a great variety of food. The real food attraction was the beautifully designed avanue of a la carte restaurants all part of the all inclusive package. The beach and the entertainment was great.. I would also like to say that there was always staff at hand for all your needs. All in all a great hotel. You will not be disappointed.

we booked this with a combined hotel and Nile cruise holiday. Originally booked into Jasmine Palace but after reading the reviews we arranged a move to this hotel with an additional admin fee. So worth it - this hotel probably has one of the best beaches (great snorkelling from the beach directly) and is kept very clean. Rooms are spacious with all that you need. The food in the main restaurants could get very boring as always much the same on offer - however the quality is good and very hygienic, but with free access to the speciality restaurants (pre-bookable) this makes a nice change for the evening meal. We tried the burger place, Cuban, Greek and oriental - all of which were good with Cuban being the best.
The resort is very peaceful - no loud music blaring anywhere and every member of staff works tirelessly and always with a smile on their face. There is no pressure for tips - unlike the rest of Egypt.
We would definitely consider staying in this hotel again. It came very close to a 5/5 rating but due to the following couldn't really do that. So on the not so great side:
This hotel is mainly for German guests and all staff assume you are German until told otherwise. They are very heavy smokers and the hotel has virtually no smoking policy, so with the exception of the rooms, the indoor part of the main restaurant and 10 tables at the beachfront restaurant people are allowed to smoke everywhere else, including at the swim up pool bar - this does need to be changed. I came home with a terrible cough.
Hypocritical rules - the dress code for the pools are published by the towel stands - on our last afternoon a young lady went into the pool in a Bhurkini with her little boy. The lifeguard asked her to leave the pool immediately - which she did. Across the other side of the pool a Russian lady got into the pool wearing a sarong (for no reason as minutes before she had been in the pool in a bikini). The lifeguard asked her to leave the pool and remove it - which she did. But at the encouragement of male companions she put it back on again and got back into the pool. The lifeguard asked her to remove it/leave the pool - they became obnoxious and so he let it slide. I find this quite out of order. There is either a policy on this or there isn't.
Entertainment - no expense was spared - literally. All that we saw was a couple of mediocre singers churning out the usual Abba numbers with their backing tracks - and they would all probably fail to win a Karaoke competition here in the local pub. We weren't that bothered about this - but just a point to note if you like evening entertainment.
Final point - if you are at all sensitive to insect bites take plenty of insect repellent with you and apply regularly. We were bitten constantly and had very bad reactions.

Room Tip: Our Garden View Room (1826) actually was a car park view room.
