We enjoyed watching a sea lion, a heron, and some pelicans hoping for a snack. There were also a lot of iguanas hanging out in the area.

Much like the rest of the Galapagos, humans have to live in close proximity to different wildlife, which is no more apparent than the Fish Market.

Sea lions, pelicans, gulls, herons, finches and marine iguanas surround the fishmongers, who have to fillet fish and swat flies under the watchful eyes of the aforementioned fauna.

We didn’t buy anything to eat but we certainly left with fantastic memories, and videos to boot.

Well worth an early AM visit.
Say 8 am. Take your camera as you will have very memorable moments to save.
Having spent hours taking photos of
Pelicans , Frigates, and Sea Lions throughout the islands, you have it all in close up here. Very funny sea lion having tug of war with a pelican over a piece of fish.

We went to the market after 4 pm when fresh seafood was brought by fishermen, and pelicans, a sea lion, and different birds performed a show trying to catch pieces of fish.

There is a sea lion (pictured) who appears here every day when the boats are unloading their fresh fish. The rumor was that this sea lion appeared here as a pup and was being fed by the fisherman, and the conservationists thought that was a bad idea so removed the sea lion youngster to a colony somehwere. It found its way back, so they tried again, and moved it further away. It came back again, so they relented, and it has been there ever since, getting tidbits from the fisherman who are cutting away the parts they won't sell. Of course, the pelicans and other birds are not at all happy with this arrangement and crowd around to get some for themselves--hence the pier-side drama as the local wildlife vie for the takings.
