We’ve heard a lot of good things about Comuna 13 and we decided to let the locals share their country and culture with us. As such, we joined a group of friends from different parts of the world and together we trusted Mariana, our tour guide to help us understand the past, present and promising future of Medellin. The tour started at 4pm and ended late that evening. That was because Mariana was so amazing and full of surprises! She knows her neighborhood, the street performers and everyone around the city knows her. Her personality shines while she shares her stories with passion. You can come prepared to learn about Colombia. If Mariana doesn’t have answers for your questions, she will find them. She is on a mission to educate the tourists visiting her neighborhood and wants to give tourists confidence to come visit Medellin without hesitation. Please keep in mind that during our tour it was raining! But the weather didn’t stop Mariana nor us to continue our tour! We’ve been prepared for rainfall and had our raining jackets with us in our backpack all the time. If you visit during the raining season make sure you bring your raincoat as well!
