My family and I stayed at Casa Bustamante for three nights in August. It was perfect for us. Small, quiet, and peaceful, yet close enough to the Old City that we could walk, or on especially hot days, take a $2 cab ride. We found the neighborhood to be very safe, even after dark. Our room was comfortable, with a lovely updated bathroom and solid air conditioning. The pool was an absolutely wonderful respite from the heat and we used it at least briefly everyday. The beach is just across the street. Although it was not the most beautiful beach we'd ever seen, it was friendly and lively on the weekend with local families and food vendors. The staff was very attentive and kind to us, in particular, the manager Miguel. We had the unfortunate incident of our 4 year old wetting the bed one night, which has never happened before. I was so embarrassed when telling Miguel that I almost cried, but he was so helpful and kind and put me at ease. (Even the cleaning staff made a kind comment so that we wouldn't feel embarrassed.) The staff was also helpful in booking transportation to nearby attractions, such as the Aviary. I would highly recommend this hotel to couples or families visiting Cartagena. Very pleasant, and very good value.

Close to the centro historico, in quiet neighborhood, casa bustamente is the good compromise for few days stay in Cartagena.
Staff are very helpful and nice.
50 meters on the left when you go out from casa bustamente, first floor up to the little market, you have the best burrito in town!

We stayed here for a week! The staff though not all speak english are wonderful. Breakfast is very good and included! The hotel is close to the walled city and an easy safe walk even at night, it is also a cheap taxi ride! The hotel can set up airport transportation which makes getting to hotel very pleasant. Room was large with everything we needed! Just mins away from beach as well.

I have carefully read all the reviews posted, most especially those which were negative, and I can say as a person who travels often that this charming property was one of the nicest and most welcoming small hotels I have visited. The room was tidied daily, the a/c and fan worked perfectly, the shower was bright and spacious, and the bed was more than comfortable. Breakfast was good and there are four options to choose from. The manager, Miguel is charming and very helpful. The staff is very pleasant and attentive. This is Colombia, a Spanish speaking country, so please do learn some basic Spanish before you come, as most people only speak a very little English. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the old city, yet nicely removed from the hustle and bustle. My reservation was less expensive than when I booked, which I greatly appreciated. They replaced the soap and shampoo daily along with the towels which was not necessary but appreciated. The hotel is in a very nice neighborhood (contrary to what one reviewer said), in a row of restored mansions and luxury condominiums. The rooms are sparsely decorated (although my room had a safe, a wardrobe, a desk and stocked mini fridge and snacks) and for some, this may be an issue, but with such a gorgeous city and common areas, use the room for sleep and work only. Thanks to the staff at Casa Bustamante for making my stay in Colombia so special.

Room Tip: Family suites are in back, single rooms in front.

angelica and Miguel could not have been more accomodating for our stay at casa bustamante. the hotel is located in a neighbood, which I really enjoyed after being in the old town of cartegena. a breakfast was provided at six a.m., well before the allocated time. Miguel went to bat for us getting taxi's and paying a fair fee. Even stood out in the pouring rain to help us anyway he could. Luggage, location of stores, and directions. The room was well appointed. Large with a beautiful window and door. This property was once a beaurtiful home. I would not hesitate to recommend this property.

Room Tip: i was in a double bed room off the main room.
