I have carefully read all the reviews posted, most especially those which were negative, and I can say as a person who travels often that this charming property was one of the nicest and most welcoming small hotels I have visited. The room was tidied daily, the a/c and fan worked perfectly, the shower was bright and spacious, and the bed was more than comfortable. Breakfast was good and there are four options to choose from. The manager, Miguel is charming and very helpful. The staff is very pleasant and attentive. This is Colombia, a Spanish speaking country, so please do learn some basic Spanish before you come, as most people only speak a very little English. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the old city, yet nicely removed from the hustle and bustle. My reservation was less expensive than when I booked, which I greatly appreciated. They replaced the soap and shampoo daily along with the towels which was not necessary but appreciated. The hotel is in a very nice neighborhood (contrary to what one reviewer said), in a row of restored mansions and luxury condominiums. The rooms are sparsely decorated (although my room had a safe, a wardrobe, a desk and stocked mini fridge and snacks) and for some, this may be an issue, but with such a gorgeous city and common areas, use the room for sleep and work only. Thanks to the staff at Casa Bustamante for making my stay in Colombia so special.
