To find a good, not expensive hotel in Cartagena Historical center is not an easy task. The hotel is placed near the Plaza de los Dulces in Cartagena, very close to most of the sights and night life the city has to offer. It is not however close to the beach, but will arrange transport if you want to visit any islands or do any additional sightseeing. The breakfast is included in the price. It is not child appropriate as it does not have many amenities for kids. It is also not a boutique hotel but a regular hotel built around a colonial house built approximately 500 years ago.

Room Tip: Good prices at good location

This hotel was really nice and well placed. Reception was really helpful :)
Big rooms and good breakfast.
Good climatization.
Wifi in the rooms and at reception.
Nice decoration in the hotel.
A computer is available for guests.

Room Tip: We were on the fourth floor but you can ask for other floors if you do not want to have many stairs to walk through.

This is a mid-market boutique hotel that looked after us well with helpful reception staff and OK rooms. Air conditioning important and modest bathroom with poor pressure in shower. Breakfast was one of the worst in Colombia but there was some choice. Pool is just a cool off tub, and the location is great in the old walled City.

This hotel is small and perfectly located but let's set the record straight on some other aspects, starting with their free breakfast. To be honest, the other reviews mentioning their delicious breakfast is what ultimately made us select this hotel. In reality, the only great item at breakfast was their delicious cafe con leche (we're in Colombia after all, coffee is good everywhere). As for the other food items, although they're made in a small kitchen right in front of you, they all looked cheap, low quality. The eggs were consistently overcooked (almost burned and dry), the pastries didn't look or taste fresh. Well, since breakfast was included in the cost of the room, there is not much to complain about here: free is ALWAYS good.
Now about the room and and amenities: the rooms were nice and comfy. They had great AC, TV, mini bar and showers with hot water. Our greatest issue was the Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi in the room barely worked. We were advised the one in the lobby area would work better but it didn't.
Other than that, the front staff was excellent. They were always smiling and willing to help. Overall, we still had a pleasant experience there. It is so well located that you're within walking distance of the entire walled city (old town).

We are a family of 4 (kids 10 & 13), and stayed 4 nights at Casa India Catalina. We had 2 rooms. Stay was excellent. Staff was very welcoming. Breakfast was very good (Ask for Lula juice). Hotel has great location and is a terrific value.
