It was our second time in Chengdu and wanted to do something special. Charlie arranged for us a very special tour. On the first day, he picked us up at our hotel, had lunch at a local restaurant. He knew just what we wanted, (my mother is a vegetarian but we weren’t) ordered for us a delicious meal. We walked to Chengdu Wu Hou Shrine where Charlie’ knowledge of Chinese history burst. We then went to a local market to buy ingredients for our cooking class. He knows so much about food, and its history, being foodies, this was a treat for us. The cooking class was at a local restaurant with a very talented chef. We made 4 delicious dishes. He improvised a meat dish into a vegetable dish just for my vegetarian mother.
The next day, we went to Leshan Giant Buddha. On the way we drank Chinese tea. After we visited the Giant Buddha, had tea in a tea house 400 years old, met with local people. We went to see a small family-owned tea farm, picked tea leaves, were able to see how the tea was made. The local restaurants and markets were great, quite different from Chengdu, got to know the depth of Sichuan cuisine.
We also went to Dujiangyan Irrigation System and Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding on different days.
Charlie is the best of the best, organized, full of knowledge and professional, knows the best places to go, where and what to eat, where to take pictures, how to avoid crowds, everything you need to make your trip comfortable and without worries.
He is also fun to be with, with a great sense of humor. I fully recommend him to be your guide in the China, especially if you are tired of ordinary tours and want to hear the story behind the culture and history of the great country. Thank you and hope to see you again, very soon.

My friends and I really enjoyed the hike around Mt Emei. Getting outside Chendgu was a breath of fresh air and the surrounding vistas were enjoyable as we drove to the mountain. We visited nearly half a dozen monasteries along the walk and had a late lunch overseeing a lake within the mountains. It was a bit more strenuous then some of us (me) imagined, but was a very good day nonetheless!

We enjoyed the day with Eric so much that we ended up booking a second tour of a local food market with a cooking class. Since I've gotten home, I've already made mapo tofu, kung pow chicken and dumplings myself!!

Thanks.

Charlie is best guide/tour organizer ever. He picked us up promptly from our hotel & first stop was Chengdu Research Base for Giant Panda Breeding. There he regaled us with his extensive knowledge of these wonderful creatures. We then stopped off for lunch & finally got to taste Chengdu's famous spicy Hotpot - a definite must try! We ended this day at The People's Park This park is very popular & there are various types of entertainment around the park, some of which you can even join in! We rounded off with tea at the 100 year old tea house in the park. On day 2, Charlie arranged a trip to the Leshan Giant Buddha & a tea farm. This was with another expert guide - Patrick - lovely fun guy who gave us a great insight into the Chinese culture. We also mentioned to Charlie that we would like to visit Tibet & no sooner said than done, 15 minutes & a phone call later, he had arranged a 9 day trip to fantastic Tibet with the knowledgeable Mr. Luo as our driver/guide. Thanks to Charlie & his colleagues, this was a trip we will never forget

We wanted to see the area away from the cities and booked a private tour to Mt Emei. Our guide, Eric met us at our hotel and we had a fabulous day. We could not have been looked after any better. He was friendly, knowledgeable and interesting. We walked for over four hours and almost 16km and it was fantastic! Eric also organised a delicious meal and snacks as we visited the area. We had such a good day that we booked a tour of the market followed by a cooking lesson for the next day. This was another highlight. Well worth the money - a great way to spend time in and around Chengdu. Thank you Eric for a wonderful time.

Charlie was a great guide, took us on a tour of the local market to see the real China. He had an awesome amount of knowledge and even told us about points of interest while in the car and answered questions about China in general. He then took us to learn how to cook Sichuan style food, that tasted great and was easy to cook. He even took a few photos for us and have the recipes afterwards so we can cook it at home. Including a recipe that we had eaten elsewhere and really liked.
