Covenient, near to bus stop . Bus 4 to train station is very convenient. Near to shopping area. People is friendly. Slightly old but value for money. Cleanliness is OK but the items are a bit old. Breakfast provided but not too nice, just simple.

The English name was "Chengdu Garden Hotel" so I am assuming this was the same one. It was not exactly centrally located, but then I found Chengdu a fairly UN-compact city, so I am not sure that another hotel would have been an improvement. There's heaps of subway construction going on which did not help matters - it was hard to spot the bus stops.

I was there for a week in a 'business class room' - fine, spacious, quiet, comfy bed (by Chinese standards - their mattresses tend to be hard), etc. However, no real service - they never once changed the sheets and barely cleaned the bathrooms. The maids spun in every day, emptied the trash, tossed in some fresh towels, and left. Luckily I am fairly tidy. Plus there was the anomaly that the in-room fridge was activated by a LIGHT, so unless you want to sleep with a light on, the fridge went off at night. Good point: huge TV/computer combo (when it worked - I kept having to get someone in to re-boot it)

Breakfast was included but just standard Chinese breakfast that quickly got boring - boiled eggs,, steamed buns, veggies.

I liked the little garden courtyard, which had 2 very suspicious white doves who always kept a beady eye on me when I traversed the area (which was en route to the boring restaurant)

Biggest problem is total LACK OF ENGLISH at the hotel. If they are going to be listed on English websites, seems to me they need an English speaker somewhere. This was a relatively young staff, and NOT ONE WORD of tourism English - not airport, bus, train (they sent me to a subway station once rather than the train station) - I wrote everything in English and then they tried to translate into Chinese to send me on my way. Since Chinese students take English for 4-5 years starting in middle school, I am perplexed as to why NO ONE at the hotel had a word of usable English.

But ALL of Chengdu seemed to be like this. The Chinese say it's a very laid back city - I think they definitely slept through their English classes.

Room Tip: There's no elevator and 3 floors - so be sure to ask (I didn't!) for 1st or 2nd floor room if you don't like hiking up and down steps.

The location is about 30 minutes walk from the main shopping area. Nothing really interesting close by. The hotel has a garden courtyard, which is nicely landscaped with ponds, but this gives lots of mosquitos in the (airconditioned rooms). Our bathroom was in desperate need of renovation, it had a wirlpoolbath, but it didn't work and the taps looked as if they were about to fall off. Internet on the tv, with wireless keyboard and mouse included, but in chinese.
Breakfast was lousy, only chinese, not a lot of choices, burnt milktea (but this might be a local speciality). For the price I think you must be able to find better in Chengdu!
