The hotel is a bit old, the target visitors is mainly for Chinese only. The free Wifi service required China mainland mobile phone number to receive the login code which is not accessible to other countries visitors. The room assigned was a smoking room, which has very serious bad odor. The cleaning of the hotel is also not up to standard of 5 star hotel. However, the pricing is very expensive for accommodation and meal.

Kids would love this place....it had an aquatic theme in the room with little stuff for kids (ie. key rings, robes and slippers) and it was clearly very close to some theme parks. For our adult purposes, the rooms were spotless and very modern. Watching fireworks going on at the theme park that night from our balcony was also a treat. And the food was simply outstanding. It was an endless buffet of both western and chinese fare. And breakfast was similarly amazing as well. One of the nicest places we stayed in all of China and close to Macao which was our next stop in our journey.

A huge hotel with beautiful interior of underwater sea life with huge statues of dolphins in the lobby and a dolphin pool outback at the back of the hotel. There is a free shuttle bus to and from the hotel to the sea world from 9:30 - 9pm. Or u can walk to the park that will take about 10mins. The rooms are nicely decorated, the problem was the beds are narrow for to 2 people so I had to order an extra bed costing an extra 200 rmb a night.

On a visit to Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, we stayed at the Hengqin Bay Hotel as part of our package deal. Amongst the usual Chinese travel forums, this is generally considered to be the best hotel at Chimelong, and we were not disappointed.

Upon arrival, you can't help by stand in awe of the massive foyer, very plush, and with what looks like a giant sea urchin or some sort of critter in he middle surrounded by pillars shaped like dolphins. You could go one of two ways with this - you'll either find it apt for the hotel/theme park or you'll find it tacky. I kinda liked it...

We were quickly checked in, and we went to our room, which was, well, it was amazing. Not Marina Bay Sands, Singapore amazing, but, it was very nice all the same.

Beds were comfy, the bathroom was hug, clean, and stocked with sealife themed goodies like toothbrushes, toothpaste, soaps, etc. We also had a great view of the grounds.

Elsewhere in the hotel are a mix of semi-plush shops and restaurants, and little food type stalls. The grounds are vast too, but within walking distance of the theme park and the circus.

There are frequent busses to the theme park too, but they tend to hang around for ages, waiting to fill up before taking off. This is understand, but it can be annoying when you're sat for 10 minutes not going anywhere (I'm a tad impatient).

As part of our stay we had a buffet dinner, which was frankly great. A massive choice of food, and included such delights as sushi and sashimi, yue jue (suckling pig), an abundance of seafood including crab and oysters, baos in the shape of animals (for the younglings), American bullfrog (which quickly became a favourite of mine), and all manner of juices.

If you're visiting Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, this is probably THE hotel to stay at. Having said that, there is a penguin themed hotel nearby...
