It is a multi-function building, but yet is quiet. Rooms are clean and no carpets so good for us. One side of the building is warmer so in winter choose the west side. The building is relatively safe as there is a guard. Food stalls and pedestrian street just outside. 10 mins walk to a big supermarket. Hotel provided porridge for breakfast.
We took the bus from the long distance bus terminal next to the supermarket to Hong Kong. Bus took 5 hours but the queuing up at immigration was crazy, especially at the HK side! We were under the visitor category and together with the other Chinese nationals (not sure why no separate lane for them since they are of the same country). It was squashy, people pushed when ever the security allowed people to join the queue and it was terrible for us with 3 kids and 6 bags. In the end we did not even realise that we had left a bag on the bus. They switched buses at the HK side and the driver of the 1st bus did not even tell us we had left anything on the bus and just waved us on to look for the other bus. We lost a few things. They really should do some planning for the immigration clearance, but no matter as we will not bother with this crossing again.More
