My jaw dropped when I first entered to this Resort, it definitely does not match the standard of the 5 stars international brand at all. Very disappointing.

1) Poor directions with complex floor plan
There are 6 joint buildings and the lifts do not access to each level and you have to find the right lift to get to the floor you stay. There are very little directions signs and we always wasted a lot of time on finding the correct lift and we have to took the long way to walk from a building to another building. There were little maps and they were confusing to read.

2) Poor maintenance
The Resort is a very beautiful building! BUT it resembles me of an abandoned castle after a chaos. The paints are peeling off and water dropped from the ceiling on the corridor. Wasted constructions materials were just discarded around the corner without cover. The roofs are broken.

3) Poor in-room facilities
The room is poorly maintained. The cleaner did not fold the towels properly. The slippers were not brand new. The were stain on the water tap, and around the tank. The toilet seat is uncomfortable to sit on.

Good things about this hotel are that the surroundings of the hotel is very natural, but the garden is poorly maintained and the staffs are polite and friendly.

However, I would not recommend my friends and families to stay at this Resort.

A 5-star International brand with 3-star standard only. Reasons:

1) Indoor swimming pool: so dirty and so many bubbles floating on the surface of the pool. Don't know where the bubbles came from.

2) Outdoor swimming pool: so many leaves floating on the pool and no staff trying to clean it.

3) Poor hotel room/facilities direction: I stayed at Area 5, 7/F but the direction shows Area 4-6 is on 5/F- 7/F. I was so confused and lost but can't even find a staff to ask because no one was around. Also, it was difficult to find the swimming pools since no direction map shown in the lifts.

4) In-room facility/amenity: The wooden curtain used for separating the room and bathroom was broken. Also, one pair of towel slippers were tattered.

After a very complicated journey to the hotel ( we never expect the HS train ticket is almost impossible to get it the same day after queue for 1 hour, it is a waste of time). Taxi is a good choice although it is expensive to take it from SZ to there. The hotel is exccellent for a leisure stay, The staffs are so nice and with smile in their face all the day and helpful. Will like to go back again in winter time for a better relaxing hotspring.

I stayed in the hotel with my wife (she also wrote a review a few days ago) in the beginning of May. The hotel itself does not stand up to the standards that I am used in Intercontinental, the property looked old and not properly maintained. BUT (capital letters) the staff, even though most of them did not speak much English, they were super nice, all the time smiling and doing everything to try to make you happy... I was really amazed by the way they treated us. There is one person in particular, Bella Xu, who cared for us as I have never seen any other staff doing (just a simple sample, we asked her for the name of a song that was playing in the restaurant, she waited until her job finished, and in her free time she went to ask everyone until she found it, she recorded it and ask her friend to write for us a letter in English (her English was not that good) then she went to look for us until she found us to gave us the song... amazing her devotion to the job and her will to maximize guest satisfaction).

Although it is quite far from Shenzhen and Guanzhou, it is really worthy the time you spend to get there. The surroundings are amazing, not just the quite nice hot spring water pools, but all the mountains, the greenery... full of mountain tracks to get lost for hours.

I would definitely go back if I am near the area.

Room Tip: Watch out for the areas under renovation... construction works start quite early...

My husband and I would like to thank the entire staff of Intercontinental Huizhou for the incredible time we had there, especially BELLA XU. She went above and beyond our wildest expectations in providing service for us. Without her wonderful service, our time would not have been as wonderful. The rest of the staff and the facilities were also amazing, and we could not imagine a more ideal place to spend a weekend if you want to be close to the one of the most amazing mountains in China (if you like nature). A thousand thank yous to everyone at Intercontinental Huizhou! You all have made us life-long customers and will return many times in the years to come.
There is just one thing I would suggest to modify in this hotel. In the hot spring pool they play just 1 SONG again and again. It would be nice if the could have a more varied play list.

Room Tip: While they are under renovation process ask for a room not facing construction area. Do not miss a massage in the Spa. The therapist are really professional! If you are a foreigner and you don't speak Chinese, do not worry, they will try their best to understand your needs. Not everybody speak English but you can go to this hotel without worrying for the language barriers.
