Fun to visit when in Xiamen.
Have lunch at the student restaurant Fu Rong (芙蓉).
Visit the beautiful bookstore near the main entrance.

We walked around the university for a day and truly enjoyed ourselves. The small lake (very large pond) at the centre of the campus is so incredibly relaxing.

I spent a month lecturing at the university 29 years ago. The growth of both the city and the university since is incredible. For the first time in China my wife and I saw more cars on the streets than either bicycles or motorcycles. The university development includes its own lake. To no ones surprise it has been voted the most beautiful university in China, and Xiamen itself is a tourist city. We were informed that the crowds of people wandering the campus during the lunar holiday were tourists, not students. I think that the Chinese are keeping this gem a secret until the rest of the world stumbles on it by accident.

Very beautiful addition if you are visiting Nam Putuo temple and certainly worth a 1/2 hour stroll around the lake while heading over to the beaches.
