We walked around the campus of Xiamen University, enjoying the architecture and landscaping. We had coffee in the coffee shop on campus, which was very good.

The guide book says that the xiamen university is the best university in south of china, so we went to there in a nice afternoon. And just like the guide book says, it have a great campus, and wonderful view. So if you are not rush in the trip, it's worth to take a look at.
This was a great way to spend a few hours, The campus has some very beautiful building. The lake is a favorite spot among locals. Very peaceful and calm.
Nice if you are walking back up from the beach but for a day out, the botanical garden is far more impressive.
As previously mentioned, it is just a campus. But, it's very important to this city and is one of the top-rated universities in China. It would be hard to imagine a college campus in China being more gorgeous than this. Just take a leisurely walk around campus if you have a free sunny afternoon- you probably won't regret it.
Who wants to see a university with students going to class? That's probably not so interesting for people, but there are 2 places inside, which I will review here, but first let me tell you that XMU is a big place as far as Uni campuses go, and if you were to ask students where a certain building is, they might not know either!
I'll start with the only good place to see - the Anthropology Museum (Ren Lei Xue Bo Wu Guan). It has 2 floors of exhibits and tells you about natural human history, towards the 2nd half, it is centered on Chinese history and has some antiquities. I personally like to see this sort of thing, so I was thrilled by it all.
There is also a Chinese European Art Center at the University Art College, despite the nice website, the place itself is boring! It's very small and has just a few exhibits. I guess it's mostly used as a research library for art students. It was so difficult to find this place. My local driver had to call the office and even they could not give good directions to this place. Entry is free to both places, but I would give the latter place a big miss. If you don't hire a driver, you can forget about both places, really!
