“not very good”
Reviewed 5 September 2012

We ate here last night. There were no patrons in the restaurant when we arrived at 8:30, and when we left at 10:30 still no patrons!!

We were hoping for good Basque food like we had in Reno Nevada, but it was not!
We started with a very good crab in butter with garlic and cheese dish. Then it went down hill. The salad with apples, nuts, lettuce and two kinds of cheese was ruined by their sweet mustard salad dressing.

I had their special Basque fish dish, pan fried fish filets, covered with a white sauce, then covered with very crisp potato slices. The fish was a bit over cooked, the sauce very bland and had an off taste, but the potatoes were excellant. My wife had the same dish but with pan fried chicken breasts, which were dry and over cooked, with the same sauce and the same potatoes.

Service was excellant, but it took about 45 minutes for the first course to show up, a bit strange since we were the only patrons. We passed on desert.

I would not recommend this Restaurant. So far this is the worst me we have had on this trip to Argentina and Chile.

“Once you taste the "A la Vasca" dishes, you'll never be the same”
Reviewed 7 April 2012

A family owned restaurant with great ambiance and delicious food. The ambiance is warm, inviting and great for two, five or more. The staff couldn't be friendlier; service was impeccable and all the food, with out exception, was fresh and prepared to perfection. We liked it so much that we ate here a few times during our five days in Punta Arenas. My favorite by far, was the "A la Vasca sauce" which had red peppers & garlic & I don't know.... you have to check it out. The most impressive thing about this restaurant was the consistency of the food and service. This is a local spot, catering to the most discerning pallet, no frills, just real good classic Spanish and regional Chilean dishes. The fam is from Asturias and many of the recipes are family traditions and secret. If the beauty of Patagonia isn't enough to have you longing to come back, this dish will.

“Good Basque food”
Reviewed 7 February 2008

The Asturias is a comfortable restaurant, reasonably priced, that offers tasty Basque food with ample portions. We had fresh local fish smothered with crisp fried potatoes that were refreshingly non-greasy. The service was good, the location is central, the decor was pleasing, and we had a very pleasant evening there.
