And this is the reason it appears only in the 2nd daily tour recommended there.
So many are visiting Angkor Wat hoping it were Bayon Temple or Ta Prohm Temple: don't make the same mistakes as so many others make.
If you expect to find the Faces trying to escape the walls, they are not at Angkor Wat but at Bayon Temple.
And ff you are looking for the liquid trees (like Salvatore Dali's liquid watches) or the hidden face inside the tree's trunk, they are neither at Angkor Wat but at Ta Prohm Temple (Tomb Raider 1st movie).
I had read so many reviews before visiting Siam Reap, but still I wasn't prepared enough: actually Angkor Wat is only one of the thousands temples in Siam Reap area and you should/must visit them in an organized way to make the best of them.
We were 5 days in Siam Reap and have visited many Temples.I am trying to review them all here, and will of course attach many pictures as well.
So my main advice is to follow the daily tours proposed there: there are 3 daily tours, while the 1st one is the most interesting with the most impressive and unforgettable Temples, definitely Bucket List ones, like Bayon (my preferred with the faces in the walls), Angkor Wat and Ta Prohm among them.
I have attached pictures and among them some showing the 3 tours.
The 2nd days will lead you to another suite of Temples, still impressive but not as much like this one reviewed here.
However the 3rd day has another of my top 3 Temple: Bakong Temple in the Roluos group. It appears only in the 3rd day because it unfortunately requires 1 hour tuktuk drive (less by car, with AC).
And yes, in my top 3 since I preferred it over Ta Prohm.
Bakong is not without reminding the extaordinary and fantastic Temples drawled by Richard Corben in his special comics books (Den for instance).
So if you like fantastic comics, you should not leave this Temple aside,
If you are there for only one day, take the one day daily tour, otherwise, take as many as you can, and yes, it is worth investing some money to get a private guide.
Not only will he explain the history and stories behind these amazing places, but he will save you time and show you the right spots to take the best pictures.
PS
If you need a recommendation for a reliable and cheap tuktuk driver, ours was top notch. His name is Saren kat, you can contact him by Facebook or his Telephone 092770304
