The color of the stone is quite different. Some of the stone carvings are quite good. The route from Siem Reap is OK not that scenic but gives a glimpse of rural Cambodia

This temple was not built by a king -it was built built by one the kings main advisors - they are still trying to figure out where the rock came from.

Known popularly as Ladies temple this red sandstone temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is widely praised as Jewel of Angkor Wat for its intricate carvings. Another piece of interesting information- this is the only major temple in Angkor not built by a monarch - the construction is credited to the courtiers named Vishnukumara and Yajnavaraha.

Early temple from 10th century built with pink sandstone .reliefs beautiful . As with all , better experience with guide for fascinating explanations. Part of angkor wat pass. About 20 minutes further from siem reap . Clean bathrooms available. A few minute walk from parking lot. Not as many stairs. 30 -40 minutes

Took this tour coz my friend n i bought the 3 days pass . The guide on duty for our tour was Mr Sok or Suk. It was a very interesting tour. U get to learn about buddhism n hinduism. I was amazed by the detail intricate carving of banteay srei. Such a beautiful temple. The smallesr temple (the local said) butttttt...the area was so huge...hahahaha...i enjoyed myself really well in all of the tours. I get to learn about the local culturr, heritage, nature and lifestyle. My tour (angkor full day, kulen mountain day trip & banteay srei) were all booked and arranged by Siem Reap Shuttle / easy tour.

This should not be missed as the carvings are so delicate and it must have taken the ladies painstakingly long hours to do all of these carvings.

Well worth the visit, particularly with a guide as there is so much to see and experience. Good to see the wider world community supporting the much needed restoration.

Banteay Srei was my personal favorite temple in Siem Reap. The carvings are nicely preserved and exact, and amazingly it's the single temple not built by royal percentage and in case I remember right was used by monks as being an area of worship. I would recommend arrival at the beginning of the first morning and bypassing the queues by keeping away from the traveler groups standard routes across the region. I did this by tuk tuk on the last day of my Angkor pass, looking at the sunset at Angkor at 6.20am consequently rendering the way of mine right to the further out temples as Banteay Srei and Phnom Kulen, which worked great since it'd been cooler in the first morning and there was much less folks.
