My husband and I stayed at the Frangipani for a week in April 2017.

The property is bright and breezy, and the garden/pool area is great for relaxing, swimming, or having lunch. The restaurant makes good cocktails and decent food. The free breakfast is great.

The staff was all helpful and very nice. They didn’t push or try to oversell anything. We tipped here and there but didn’t feel pressure to do it. The omelette lady in particular is great, so is the manager who’s always practicing his Chinese.

No problems with the room, but probably worth paying a bit more for a room with a better view. The value was great anyway.

It’s a few minutes walk from the Frangipani to Bar Street and the Night Market, but it’s a nice walk. You can tuk tuk for two bucks, but if you plan to walk it, download a map first. Once you cross the river into the older part of town, the streets get a bit twisty. There are a few routes you can take, and all of them are interesting. Take the north bridge across the river to check out the King’s Residence, or even better the bat trees in the Royal Gardens. You can see the giant fruit bats easily in the trees that border the sidewalk, no need to go anywhere special. The action’s best at sunset. If not looking for bats, take the south bridge; it’s faster.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view. Some rooms look directly into the next building.

Stayed as a couple for 3 nights. The hotel provided a pick up and drop off service to the airport.

The room had aircon and a hot shower. The pool area was clean and relaxing.

There was a good choice of buffet breakfast and the I made friends with the in-house cat.

Our stay here was short but wonderful! Staff was extremely accommodating and friendly, often asking how you are and laughing with you. There is a restaurant built in that we are at one night and food was delicious. Room was clean and generally spacious and bathroom was accommodated with basic needs (enough towels, soap, etc.) and air conditioning was apt. The pool was gorgeous- lined with blue tile and wasn't overchlorinated which is a pet peeve of mine. The pool is in its own oasis surrounded by trees and tables/lounging chairs. The front of the hotel has a comfortable sitting area as well. Staff can set up transportation to/from hotel as well.
