Description: Sala Baï Hotel & Restaurant School was founded in 2002 by the French NGO Agir pour le Cambodge. The school entirely and exclusively meant for young Cambodians coming from underprivileged families. In 2015, more than 1300 young Cambodians, with a 70% priority to girls, have been trained. They have all found a job within 1 month after their one-year training. A few years later, their average salary goes from $250 to $350 which enables them to reach the emerging Cambodian middle-class. The vocational training taught at Sala Baï is definitely the fastest and most efficient way of fighting poverty and human trafficking. But without your support, nothing would be possible. By coming to our training restaurant, you already make a great difference, with the pleasure to enjoy high-quality food.

“Sala Bai is more than a hotel restaurant - it is a life-changing initiative!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 March 2012

On our first day in Siem Reap we decided to have lunch at Sala Bai and ended up spending the whole afternoon there, talking to students, some volunteers as well as the school directors about the school, the students' experience and and how life-changing the school initiative is. Each year the school trains – free of charge – about 100 young disadvantaged Cambodians for careers in the hospitality sector - with a 100% strike rate: at the end of the 11 month programme all students get a job in hotels mostly in the Siem Reap Area.
The restaurant is very cosy and offers a great variety the food (even for vegetarians). All students are learning English - not all of them are fluent yet - you can support their learning efforts having a conversation with them: Chat with them and you will find out so much more about the real Cambodian life....

“Excellent food, nice place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2012

This is charity restaurant and hotel school. They have restaurant opened for breakfast and lunch where food is cooked and served by the students. The food is amazing. I ate Sala bai salad and pasta. The portions are very big, service is very nice. Students are doing their best! They are lovely nice people who got the chance to get free 1 year education to become qualified staff. And you can tell they are really happy, hard working and appreciate the chance they have got. I would recommend to have a short chat with director or teachers who provide more details about their work and education. You can also see the school and meet the students.

“Great cause”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 March 2012

Another fine example of a hospitality training center where marginalized kids are giving a chance by being given free training in a range of hospitality skills. The Sala Bai restaurant was a real delight made even more so by the humbleness of the kids serving us and cooking for us. Fully recommend a visit when in Siem Reap.

“Worth a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2012

We loved this place. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. By having lunch at SALA BAI you contribute to a fantastic project to train young Cambodians.
Do not miss while you are in Siem Reap

“Dining for a cause”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2012

Each town we visit we like to eat at a 'good cause' restaurant if there is one. There are a few in Siem Reap and we opted for Sala Bai. It is hidden in a back street but most tuk-tuks know where it is. The staff, from poor famlies, were very proficient for there limited experience, and the food was varied and tasty.
