We had booked a Superior Room located on the top floor and it was excellent. The room was spacious, well furnished with a balcony having wonderful sea views just feet beneath us and a very good bathroom with an excellent shower. The room made for a very comfortable stay and offered everything we wanted. Housekeeping was first class. The public areas of the hotel were classy and elegant and the terrace with sea views was outstanding for a light lunch or drinks. On our early arrival, our room was not quite ready so we spent a great time with a bottle of wine looking at the sea and soaking up the atmosphere. The staff, without exception, were exemplary and couldn't do enough to please their guests. The wifi was quick and efficient. I had booked a table in 'Las Olas', the hotel's fine dining restaurant for the night of our arrival and had received confirmation in writing on booking and by text only hours before - for some reason, the restaurant was and seems in future, to be closed, However, a member of staff secured us a booking with a window table in one of the top restaurants in Valparaiso, 'Portofino',so all was well. If you want to experience fabulous sea food, go out of the hotel, turn left and stroll along 5 minutes to Cap Ducal. An historic building where the restaurant at night is all candlelit and serves the most delicious seafood - exquisite! Breakfasts at the Sheraton were OK, not memorable, I fared better than my wife as I was happy with the smoked salmon, processed meats, smashed avocado etc. but she was harder to please in finding things she enjoyed. Breakfast is an area that could be improved, as could the service in the breakfast area, but the freshly squeezed orange juice was nice. The hot food offerings were poor and the scrambled egg watery and not replaced regularly once it ran out. However, overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton and if returning to Vina del Mar, would have no hesitation in booking it again, despite the fact that a Saturday night came in at over £300!
