Owner description: Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building. Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship. At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004. Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

You probably spent the first hour in Dubai gazing at the towers on your way to your hotel. They are taller than most. We took the almost to the top tickets because the tour concierge said the view was the same for way less money ($70 each). So, we skipped the free tea and cookies. It also wasn’t high season so it wasn’t terribly crowded. When you get to the observation deck all those towers you were oooohing and ahhhing over look so small. Nothing is anywhere near as high as you are. Since there wasn’t a huge line we did not get to enjoy the videos along the way as much.

Nothing can prepare you for your visit in Burj Khalifa. We booked an early hour visit in the morning and we couldn't be more happy with our choice. We managed to catch the sunrise, made really good photos and the building itself is just.....wow. It was a really kind touch to include free coffee, tea, juice and a croissant for the visitors in the morning hours.

As its the tallest building in the world and you are in Dubai it has to be done.
We paid for the At the top sky ticket (floor 148). It is expensive but you skip the queue and go straight up. We booked a time so we were there a little before sunset, so saw both day and night views.
Tip pre-book on line. You can book up to 1 month before you visit, which is what we did, which was just as well as most of the time slots were sold out on the day.

We sat at Five Guys burger joint (outside on the terrace) and got a completely unimpeded view of the Burj Khalifa light show at 9.15pm. This went for about 5 minutes and was an impressive mono-coloured display of patterns on the skyscraper. Good for kids and adults. The light show started 5 minutes after the dancing water show ended.

I thought I’d made a mistake by paying best part of 300 quid for the three of us but we skipped the long queues and went into a different room and had Arabian coffee and a cookie. After 20 mins we were at the top. Apparently when you buy the normal
Ticket I think level 124 there are long queues and my missus and daughter are complete pains in the rectal area when it comes to any kind of queuing.
It was a pleasure being at the top of the burj khalifa, something I’d only ever seen on the television.
