1.Rooms are a throwback to 1980s......
2. Service, the management does not even know what it means (sample this.....they did not have tea cups to give in the room)
I could go on and on but it would be wasting your as well as my time.....STAY AWAY!

Room Tip: There are I think some freshly renovated rooms on the 1st floor....if you must stay here then at lea...

Hotel Samana Al Raffa, earlier known as Hotel Rio is owned and managed by Indians. However the reception counter is managed by some stupid Chinese/Thai guys and gals. They don't understand Indian English accent and is difficult to converse with them.
I have some very important observations for the readers below:
(1) Hotel reception will ask you to deposit your Passport with them if your booking is made by a tour operator (Yatra, Makemytrip etc.). I find this extremely strange and highly insulting and extremely unsafe practice. As per law, a passport is the property of the Government and the person is just a custodian of it. In case the passport deposited with the Hotel reception gets damaged (Fire/Water leakage or any other reason) you are screwed and stuck in Dubai. My suggestion to the Hotel management is that you can always ask for a deposit in US Dollars as it done by Hotels in other countries, instead of asking for the Passport.
(2) If you are staying for more than one night (2,3,4, or 5 nights) then it doesn't matter to the Hotel staff and they will provide you with just one 500 ml bottle of Mineral Water. Yes you read it right just one bottle (complimentary) for the entire stay. If you call for a bottle from the room service they will charge 10 AED or close to Rs.170 per 500 ml bottle. It is advisable to walk 100 metres to the New Gold Souk building nearby and buy a bottle of Mineral water from the supermarket located on the ground floor at much cheaper and reasonable rates.
(3) The Hotel has 3 to 4 Discos/Pubs which start at 9 pm and close at 3 am. This made me curious and I just went one night post my dinner to have a look, and was surprised/shocked to see that they were not pubs/discos they were "Dance Bars" and a replica of what some of us must have seen in Mumbai (before a ban on then in 2005). The Dance Bars were full of Indians with swanky cars parked outside and typical dance bars girls entertaining then on vulgar steps. However the Hotel patrons need not feel unsafe as it is managed cleverly and no one comes to know unless you enter these bars. The biggest problem is that the noise from these dance bars is so immense that the patrons till 3rd floor will not be able to sleep inside their rooms.

The Hotel location is away from the city and is wonderfully calm with a lot of open space around the building. However as I mentioned earlier the peace and calm during the day is ruined by the noise from the dance bars during the night. Dubai has 100s of hotels at reasonable rates, if possible avoid Hotel Samana Al Raffa.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms better as less noise from Dance bars on the ground and first floor.
