One of the best historic places in Laos. Loved to wander around, watching people passing by and enjoy the beautiful architecture of that quarter. The night market is a nice place to be.

We loved the existing quarter because of its numerous fashionable shops and cafes. Though undoubtedly Luang Prabang is today attracting numerous visitors, the sensation is peaceful within this quarter. The primary street journeys the measurements of the peninsular in between the 2 rivers; below you will discover a wealth of fascinating stores. Though the real appeal is in the laneways which link the main street together with the Khan or Mekong riversides.
The French influence is apparent in the beautiful wooden shutters on the majority of the structures, and also in the outstanding pastries and baguettes that you are able to consume in the cafes.
The old Quarter is heavy with visitors however keeps a very calm and chilled vibe. You will find films upstairs at among the 2nd hand bookstores every evening and plenty of riverside cafes to unwind and enjoy folks watching, food that is great and drinks. Renting a bicycle is a terrific way to enjoy the area.
This is the Hoi An of Laos - a wonderful old town to explore on foot & a great base for wider travel. Accommodation is gorgeous, the night markets are wonderful, the evenings & restaurants fabulous. A must visit in Laos.
We showed up early in the evening and residents obviously weren't out and nearly in the scorching sun. As the day passed as well as the night market began to create and tourists returned from the excursions of theirs, there was far more activity though it was still relaxed and pleasant. We commented that including the kids and dogs were quiet and calm. Do not miss the berry drink stalls on the block.
We had a pre arranged driver and guide for this visit as part of a whole day experience of the temples and palace of Luang Probang. They were excellent and gave us good detail of the temples and their history. Worth having people with the knowledge on hand.
