This hotel has good reviews and a fairly high price to go with them. But we were disappointed. We had a room on first floor, right on the main road. The door didn't open fully-it would get stuck dragging along the floor, so that made it hard to enter. Our room was tiny, and the bed took up most of the room, making it hard to get to the bathroom (especially at night, without crashing into the end of the bedpost). The bathroom was lovely and nice. Despite the wood shutters on the windows, it was still really loud. There is a little alley next door with some businesses, and people were standing outside loudly yelling, talking, laughing late into the night. It seemed like a hangout place. Because our room was street side, there were constantly tourists and other guests standing, sitting, talking on our patio/porch. Besides being kept up late by loud neighbors, people started gathering at 5:45 AM, and the noise started again. The lobby was cute, and the staff friendly. But for the price we paid, I guess I expected our room to be better. We traveled with another couple and both paid the same price-yet their room was two stories, and much quieter/better. Like another person said in their review, we weren't told about the sunset cruise. Our friends were, and so luckily, we did it because it was nice. But we wouldn't have known about it if they hadn't been told. The breakfast was great, the little riverside restaurant was cozy. If you can sleep through noise, this might be a good place for you. Easy walk to other restaurants, temples etc. Somewhat hard to get a tuk-tuk-many didn't seem to come by, and when the hotel called us one, we ended up waiting over 20 minutes. Ask for a quiet room.....

Room tip: Ask for something quiet!

Dear Natasha P

Thank you very much for reviewing The Belle Rive Boutique Hotel.

Your comments are highly appreciated as they will help us to improve our services.

We kindly apologize that we were not able to fulfill your high expectations due to previous reviews and the fairly high price you describe.

We further would like to add, that your stay was in the middle of Chinese New Year, where all Hotels in Luang Prabang are fully booked, the streets are full of Chinese cars and this is why prices went up. The terrace standard room normally is USD 130 per night and we trust that this is a fair price. Anyway, we have learnt a lot from your experience and we will reconsider our revenue and yield management for the upcoming peak season.

In addition, we would like to mention that your friends have stayed in a Balcony Maisonettes room which is bigger and more quiet. Please kindly note that they paid a higher room rate.

In case you have any further questions regarding the invoices of you and your friends, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at gm@thebellerive.com.

Last but not least, we hope you will give us again the chance to please you with our services at a less busy time of the year and thank you once again for taking your time to share your experiences with us.

Best regards

We spent eight nights in Deluxe Suite #4 in the Frangipani House at the BelleRive Boutique Hotel. The hotel is perfectly located on the Mekong River just a few blocks off Luang Prabang's main street. Breakfast on the riverside terrace was always a treat.
Vone and Damian did everything possible to make sure we had a wonderful time and felt at home. Our Deluxe Suite was very comfortable and tastefully furnished. We would definitely recommend this wonderful Boutique Hotel.

Room tip: Deluxe Suite, upper floor, Frangipani House.

I am still ranking the place as between average and very good - I really wanted to like to place, but just there are too many issues for the property that should he tripadvisor hall of fame. Check in was ok - i had requested two beds - which was only done after we arrived (despite the fact that it was in my communication with the hotel and also the reservation) . Also information on what is available around was not provided (i found out about the cruise they offer only after we left), same with the little booklet that includes info on Luang Prabang and Laos (not to mention the language of that booked was interesting to say the least, and full of assumptions). Breakfast service was slow, and even the guests sitting next to us made several comments! We did check out the very next day and left our luggage there as we were checking in again a day later - they kept the suitcase at the hotel which was nice. The next check in was a little better, despite the fact that the front desk lady was chatting to others and the manager was not interested in conversing with client but socializing with some friends outside. The rest of the personal were lovely and always smiling. We had early 6:00 AM departure two days later, and they had prepared some food for us (had to ask for coffee again despite the fact i asked twice the evening before). As I said maybe my expectations were high - which came with the price tag and with the trip advisor status. *And my final huge dislike was the bicycles they provide - most of them were in horrible condition, broken and not well maintained - better of to rent some then to use theirs.

Room tip: we stayed in the main building which i was told is the nicest

Dear EmilDAtanassov

Thank you very much for your honest feedback about your time here at The Belle Rive Hotel.

Of course we would have preferred to read a five star review, especially as guest satisfaction is our main goal which we try to achieve every day. Anyway, your comments are highly appreciated as they will help us to improve our services for our future guests. After so many things went wrong during your stay, we much value that you still rate the place between average and very good and we trust, when ever you will come back, we will be able to delight you the way you expect.

We further kindly apologize that our free bicycles were not in a very good condition, that your room was not prepared as described in your reservation and that breakfast - which is normally one of our strengths - came very slowly.

At the end of the day it all comes to expectations. Through a lot of very positive reviews during a long period we got some outstanding rewards - like the ones you have mentioned. Your review will help us to reduce expectations and we are sure we will be able to exceed our mutual guests expectations in a very positive way.

Once again, we thank you so much for taking your time to share your experiences of The Belle Rive Boutique Hotel and would be very glad to see you one day back here in this beautiful UNESCO world heritage town.

Best regards

Hotel and all the services were very good. The only remark we have is to put the bikes , which hotel provides for their guests, in order. Biking is the best way to explore the city and its surounding.
