“Surpassing my expectations”
Reviewed 24 December 2010

Was here on business over Thanksgiving this year. Had some time off and overall completely enjoyed my time here. The hotel is connected to the airport terminal and restaurant and 2 gift shops - one big building. Check in was very easy, the lady at the desk was friendly to all of us. The rooms are I think converted dorm rooms from part of the American base that was here some years earlier. They are simple ro
Oma, but very comfortable and have plenty of space. There are not many amenities in there, and I wish there was a coffee machine at least. Several rooms have shared bathrooms, but most of the rooms have been fitted with in room showers and little bathroom spaces. These are also comfortable and clean, and the water is plenty hot - so no complains here.
The hotel has breakfast included in the price, which is in the airport cafeteria, so there is a large selection of very European breakfast items. I would say the breakfast was great overall.
The one issue I have with this hotel is the price. We paid about €200 for the night here. On mainland Europe this would have cost €75 per night. I can't blame this on the hotel though, it's because this place is so isolated and every thing needs to be imported into the country. It's not just the hotel that is expensive, the beer, the food and the transport all cost well above average. Please don't rule this place out for the price though, this country is very unique and fascinating. I would recommend doing the Ice Cap Tour if you have time. Spectacular views everywhere!

This is the kind of hotel u mostly only see in bad movies :) its the only hotel located in Kangerlussuaq and is built inside the airport terminal. The reception is oposite one of the boarding gates and upstairs between the rooms Air Greenland has their offices.

This hotel is simply awful. Not fair to call it a hotel. People are nice and they try there best.

There is no alternative to this hotel and it shows on the price for 175EUR.

If u go to this place chances are u will not be able to avoid this sad place.

Hotel is part of the airport 'complex' so not far to go at least. No frills here .... long gloomy corridors and a Portakabin feel about the whole place, but it's warm, the staff are friendly enough and the rooms are comfortable. The bar is a pleasant place to down a few beers too. Breakfasts are surprisingly good, although didn't get a chance to eat in the 'posh' restaurant attached. We did however eat at the astonishingly good Thai place, in one of the buildings the other side of the runway. Worth the (15 minute) walk, even in bad weather.

Kangerlussuaq is above the Arctic Circle, so the location has its challenges. The Hotel, which is attached to the airport, offers basic rooms. The rooms are clean and have a small frig. We were given a room with a hill view, so we asked to switch to the airport view. The second room was smaller, but it had the important benefit of having window screens. Even in August there are bugs, and having screened windows allowed us to keep our windows open to fresh air during the night. The rooms are upstairs and there are no elevators, and you are probably packing warm clothes. I'm not sure if there is any staff to help with luggage as we managed our own. The cafeteria in the Hotel is loud and crowded, but about the only game in town. The pastries are delicious - all Danish.
