I came into town for a conference. The taxis drop you at the Aro Palace just round the corner. Very central and on a pedestrianised street. I paid €24 a night for a HUGE double room. The bathroom was as big as a bedroom in any other hotel, AND the room had an entrance lobby. It was warm and clean although the furnishings were dated. Breakfast was more than adequate (included). Dated? Yes, but that is part of the adventure to coming to this bustling and friendly town. Lots of great restaurants nearby where you must try the excellent local wines.

Room tip: Avoid top floor as hot water takes a while to get there. First and second floors are fine

No,no.no!
Incredible how in 2017 something like this
still exists.
Filthy, old, dirty, don't move the bed otherwise you can't stay anymore inside because of the smell.

It wasn't renewed probably since Ceausescu's time.

I would close it in a second.
I was afraid not to get ill.

The hotel itself is beautiful: stained glass windows, marble staircase, tall windows and huuuge bathroom. The finer details however reveal the real age of the hotel. The walls are marked through wear. The beds are noisy, the tv belongs in the 90s, and the mattresses have seen better days. Overall, the location is great, the prices are cheap, the staff is helpful and smiling and the rooms are clean and airy. The general feeling is that of being in a time capsule somewhere in the past, but it's a quirky experience and I kinda like antique decor.
But again, if you like everything to be modern and up-to-date, this might not be suitable for you.
Overall I enjoyed the place and have returned every year so far.

Situated in the perfect position in Brasov's old town, a 10 minute taxi from Brasov station and 10 minute scenic walk through the old town to all major sights, the location is absolutely this hotel's major draw. The receptionist was a little abrasive, there was NO WIFI in the rooms (just the lobby for some reason), the breakfast was continental... (fizzy orange instead of fresh juice...), the bedroom and bathroom (though a good size with a view of the street below) were dusty, a little mouldy, and definitely haven't been smartened up since the 80s. Also there was no house keeping service during the day like in other hotels, so prepare to reuse towels and not to expect fresh bedding each day...

Brilliant location - an old hotel but it is in need of some basic improvements. Rooms are small, extremely run down (peeling paint, mold) and uncomfortable. No hot water, no air conditioning, no soundproofing. Double bed was sunken in the middle and had only a single sheet on it to cover two people. The blanket in the cupboard looked as old as the hotel. The towels were threadbare and the curtains didn't even partially block the street lights or sun. There were windows above the bathroom - both facing our room and next door's bathroom so if the neighbour turned their bathroom light on, our room would light up. There is mediocre free wifi but in the lobby only - no wifi anywhere else in the hotel.
