“Great Experience!!”
Reviewed 23 October 2011

The hotel is very nice, well decorated, the rooms are spacious and very clean. The bathroom is big.

The restaurant of the hotel is good, we had dinner twice in it.

The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The only problem are the view. We booked a double room with sea views . The reality is there is a car park in front of the hotel.

Vicente.

We booked through an "agency" two double rooms which we were advised were the last two. One with 'sea view', the other 'park view'. Definitely not to be believed. The first was a glimmer of sea through trees, the second room was at the rear of the hotel facing and overlooked by very old delapitated flats - definitely not a view to take a second look at and not a room to stay in!! By paying a premium we were able to change to a front of building room, the last one (again). The hotel itself was very clean and comfortable, the staff friendly. Breakfast was buffet style but the staff struggled to keep the buffet table topped up. English tea bags were hardly ever available. Dinner menu was very limited and repetitive.

On reflection the hotel description was misleading. A small modern hotel in a central location would be more correct. Sea views/park views etc should definitely be omitted.

Pula is a wonderful city and well worth a visit.

Just returned from a week's stay at this centrally placed hotel in an excellent location for the centre of Pula. The decor is modern and contemporary, and the restaurant has a limited menu but good food. Bedrooms are well-furnished and comfortable, and the bathroom has an excellent shower. Staff are friendly, helpful, smiley and polite. We were allocated Room 202 - and those rooms at the back are supposedly with a 'garden view'. Either the hotel management are careless with descriptions, or are guilty of deliberate misrepresentation! DO NOT TAKE ROOM 202!! The 'garden view' which they quote is actually that of a hideous grey concrete 5-storey block of flats within yards of the room you will occupy, and you can see the tenants of those flats clearly from your window, as they too can see you. There is NO garden!!!! Room 202 was airless and stuffy, with an overriding aroma of air freshener to mask the smell of smoke. We ended-up, after much debate, in a more expensive room for which we had to negotiate a price other than the ludicrous one they wanted us to pay. Not a good start, as we waited for 3 hours whilst they made up their minds what was to happen and then had to force a resolution. Breakfast is good, particularly when the very nice middle-aged female chef is on as she keep's an eye on the buffet table and ensures it is replenished as required. Otherwise you are looking for: cups, teabags, bread, juice etc etc! It is frustrating and time consuming to be asking every few minutes for something which should already be there. The hotel is priced on a B&B basis so is aware of guest numbers, so why can't they organise it sufficiently well? Whilst we were there we heard guests complaining about the lack of organisation at breakfast and the misleading description of their room view. One receptionist confirmed they get a number of complaints about the room we were originally allocated. This is a nice hotel in a good location, with lots of potential. The staff are good, the cleaning is good, breakfast -when it's organised - is good, and so are the rooms. Someone needs to take control and make sure that there is more organisation and better management in place to make the difference between a well-run hotel, and one which needs some clear direction. (I'm able to produce photos of the so-called 'garden view').

Room Tip: Make sure you check your room view before accepting it!

Stayed for one night at the Amfiteater Hotel before travelling to the airport at Pula. It was important that it had air conditioning as the other nights in Croatia had been very hot. The hotel is very well located within minutes walking distance of the amphitheatre (surprise), the harbour, the tourist bars and restaurants and town itself. It is beautifully appointed with lots of trendy detail, the decor made the room appear a little dim at first but was easy to get used to. The room was a good size and gloriously cool with adjustable air conditioning. The television at the end of the bed was vast and a little in your face but again this is mere detail. The pillow was a little over bouncy but the most annoying feature was the height of the fixtures - the wardrobe was floor to ceiling and the hanging rail seemed to be at a height of about six foot, at 5' 6" I had to stretch to hang up my clothes, and the same with the towel rail. Shower was amazing, could be adjusted to needlesharp with a head the size of a dinner plate. Continental breakfast was served in the funky restaurant with good coffee and a lovely range of breads, spreads, meats and cheeses, yogurts, cereals and fresh fruit. Staff were helpful and polite and advised on somewhere nice for dinner and how to get to the airport. Overall very satisfied and would recommend.

Room Tip: I believe there are some park view rooms

But: the room with a sea view has a parking view, the sea is not visible.
The shower need a hand-shower,not only the ceiling rose.
The staff is excellent, helpfull, kind and I lived in about 2 000 hotels, but this stuff is one of the best,if not the best at all.
The location and the food is the first class quality.
The only minus is,that I had to pay 10 kn/day more for a look at the sea, which I couldn't see.
The next time I book a room witha park view.

Room Tip: Don't take a room with sea view,it's more expensive and you can see just the parking cars
