Don't scoff at the 150 kuna fee, equivalent to £18. Walking around these walls is simply stunning. You'll get a fantastic view of the outskirts of old town, the Adriatic Sea and inside the old town of residents, orange roofs and old buildings. For those Game of Thrones fans, you'll definitely see familiar sights. This is highly recommended, and potentially the top thing to do in Dubrovnik.

We visited in April and our two boys 5 & 8 thoroughly enjoyed the walls. Buying the Dubrovnik card was cheaper than just buying the entry to the walls as you have to pay for children if you book direct at the wall otherwise with the Dubrovnik card children under 12 are free making it cheaper for families. The Dubrovnik card is also 10% cheaper if you book online and collect the passes at the tourist information just by pile gate. The Dubrovnik card also gives you access to 6 museums in the old town and a free bus pass but is still cheaper than the standard entry onto the walls so well worth buying even if you only want to do the walls.

My journey started just by Pile Gate but what an entrance. Once you are up on the wall the vistas over the city roofs give a new sense of the majesty of the town. Whilst you can see a difference between the pre- and post-war tiles the city has been lovingly restored. There are a few steps to climb in places but totally worth it. If a noisy tour group sneaks up on you just find a place to eat and enjoy the view. A must do activity.

Nice scenic city with lots of character. People are very nice and all seem to speak good English. Recommend for all kind of visitors
April seems to be a good time to visit before the main touristic season.

The dishes were quite innovative especially for the local seafood, wine and liquors.

Plenty of restaurants and bars with friendly people

Taxi drivers are friendly and courteous.

Will come again

Lovely walk- views across the old town not to be missed . Take your time as if the weather is good , it’s good to sit intermittently. Take water. Cafes around the wall are pricey. Well worth it for photos and views x.
