We had a really good experience with Léo and his flat. No bad surprise everything were good. Nice flat, closed to the downtown. If we will go in Split again we will book this flat...

“Very good experience with apartment and renter - we'll come back.”
Reviewed 5 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We, a family of three, one baby in the age of two included, booked the apartment for June 2015. The communication with the agent, Umberto, was always fast and very friendly. All questions we had were answered really quickly and he gave us tips how to plan our vacation in Split. He also tried to give us good offers for cars and bikes, but of course through the internet from home booking prices were better than locally. We organized also an airport shuttle with him, including baby seat.
Our flight was delayed, so we had to shift the airport shuttle. Everything no problem, everyone speaks English and responded very quickly. Our issues were solved always very quickly.

Arriving in Split our airport shuttle was a cousin of Umberto, the apartment owner was another cousin of him. But all of them are very friendly. The ride from the airport to the apartment takes about 30 minutes because you have to surround the bay to come to the center of Split.

We were overwhelmed by the apartment. We didn't expect it to be that big and clean. Normally the pictures in the internet lie, but in this case you can trust them. Everything is shiny, clean and neat as shown in the photos, although you don't expect it, when you see the house from outside.
The house is in the corner of two quite busy streets and doesn't look inviting from outside. But all people we met in the house are very friendly and helpful. Regarding the traffic in front of the house: Inside it's quiet as soon as you close the windows (which you do when it's over 25 degrees).
The apartment has one air condition in the living room, but we didn't need it very often because when you keep the windows closed, it stays quite cool inside.

We were welcomed with a couple of small stuff: cool beer, wine, fruits, butter, cheese and sausage, a glass of jam. So only bread was missing and we could have our first supper.

You have a small bedroom with two single beds, perfect for children. In front of the window of this room you have a small courtyard with possibilities to hang your clothes for drying.
The main bedroom is with a king-size bed. Both bedrooms have attached small rooms (corners) as open wardrobe. The beds are covered with a washable cotton/plastic sheet, so you are not in contact with the micro-cosmos of the last customer. Spare bed clothes are provided, which was useful with our baby.
The living room is best shown on the photos. The TV has cable connection with some international, mostly Croatian and Italian channels; for German we found only VOX. Via cable is also the internet connection, which is very good. The WIFI is not very strong but you can use it in most corners of the apartment.
In the kitchen you have everything basic for cooking you need. We cooked a lot and it’s ok.
The bathroom is quite spacious and has a shower cabin, a toilet, a sink and a washing machine. The warm water comes from a water heater. For us three persons the amount of warm water was enough.
The corridor is one big room, maybe like the bedroom. Our baby had a lot of space to run around.

The city:
A bakery is right over the street; in the house is a barbershop and a shoe maker.
We found a lot of small supermarkets all over Split, the bigger ones: Lidl and Ribola are within 5 minutes of walking. For us from Germany of course Lidl was our favourite and we found also good german bread there, not only the white bread which you normally find outside Germany.
In Lidl a lot of prices are declared in three languages: German, English and Croatian. So buying there you don't need a dictionary.
We brought a lot of stuff from Germany because we feared that we maybe wouldn't find it here. But you find really everything here and the prices are like in Germany. Split invites you with a big range of (in Germany) well known stores: Lidl, Kaufland, Müller (in the two malls), DM (at the ferry pier), H&M, C&A (both in “City center”), Bauhaus...

Certainly you are looking for beaches to hang out at the sea. There is only one sandy beach, Bacvice. To come there you need about 40 minutes by foot straight through the crowded city. We went there only twice.
Our favorite place was in the north of Majan. It takes also about 30 minutes, but it’s much more relaxing to go there and to stay there. In Bacice you don’t have shadow places. Marjan is a park, you can always find a tree to lay under. Just go up the Matoseva and you will find the park entrance. Behind the yacht harbor is a small bay with a stony beach (but very small stones, so you still can go bare foot into the water, although we would recommend swimming shoes). You have a beautiful view on the mountains on the other side of Split. If you have a car, you don’t follow up the Matoseva, but go down behind the big crossing to the harbor. On the left you will find a parking place with one street leaving it in the back. Follow this street up to the end (through the harbor) and you come to a parking place next to this small bay.
If you want, you can rent bikes in the Marjan and the city. Another nice place for swimming is the Bene. Here you find a restaurant, a playground and a nice bay to swim and relax. With the car you can reach it only through a closed street on the south part of Marjan. Tell the guy at the barrier, you want to go to the Bene and he will let you through.
In the south of Marjan you will find a lot of places for swimming also, but normally without any shadow.
Going up the Nazorov prilaz next to the apartment you come to a viewing platform on the Marjan where you have a beautiful view over Split. From there you can either enter the Marjan or go down to the city.

If you have a car, you need a parking place on the street. We normally found one coming down from Kastelanska the Matoseva or entering the streets right across from the apartment. It’s very narrow, but we always found a place there.

You will experience a lot of (old) people collecting the empty bottles. For plastic bottles you get a refund of 0.5 Kuna. In Lidl you have to go down to the parking deck and will find a big room where you can return the bottles. In other shops you can return them at the cash point.

If you are looking for a good pizzeria in the surrounding we can advise you Pizzeria Kaleta at the Ujeviceva poljana. Here you can get a Family Pizza for just 65 Kuna, which tastes very good.

A money exchange with good rates we found at the Vocni trg with the rate of 7,45 Kuna for 1 EUR which was normally only 7,2 Kuna at other money changers.
