I emailed them about my reservation and arrival time twice before I arrived. I got no response. I know they had my email address because they kept sending me messages trying to sell me tours and airport transfers.
The address I was given was incorrect. When I arrived, I had to make 4 calls to the owner at an international rate before she sent someone to take me to the check in area. I waited outside for 40 minutes.
Then they told me that although I booked a private accommodation, I would have to share it with three other people. The owner became irate when I insisted that this was not what I booked and showed her the booking confirmation. The staff that work reception are great, but the behavior of the owner was unacceptable. She fought me on a refund, wouldn't offer any type of accommodation similar to what I booked, and refused to let me use their phone.
We were met at the apartment on our arrival at around 8:00 PM by Martina, who kindly showed us around the apartment and explained various things to us. In an ideal location, the apartment is situated down a quaint alleyway directly behind the Buffet Fife restaurant which is quite popular with the locals. Within easy walking distance to all sights-just 5 to 10 minutes to old town with Diocletian Palace and Riva, 10 minutes to Marjan Hill, 15 to 20 minutes to ferries to travel to various islands, and probably 20 to 25 minutes to the Ivan Mestrovic Gallery. The apartment called Marco Polo is located on the first floor up a flight of eighteen stairs. There are two nice sized bedrooms with plenty of closet space, one modern bathroom with shower, large open kitchen (complete with stovetop/oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, coffee pot) and living area with sitting area and television. The highlight is the large picture window in the living area that folds completely back to open up to a beautiful view of the seaside promenade and has electronic outer shades if you desire privacy. The only television channel in English is a VH1 channel which is fantastic as it is 24 hour music without commercials.
The apartment does not have a washer or dryer inside of it; however, daily housekeeping service is provided and they laundered the clothes for us (which was quite unexpected and a nice surprise!). The manager, Nela, and her assistant, Martina, were in constant communication with us and were prompt to answer any questions that we might have.
If we should have the opportunity to visit Split again, we would definitely want to return to this marvelous spot!
